Hi there, Friends! I'm sure you've noticed that my vintage kitchen is one of my favorite places to create whimsical vignettes and today I'm sharing some fun accents for Valentine's Day. Maybe you don't usually decorate for Valentine's Day, or aren't a dishaholic like me, but would still love to brighten your kitchen a bit. No problem--the idea is to find new ways to use what you already have! Come on in for a visit...
If you were in my kitchen, we'd visit over coffee and probably something sweet ;) However, since the computer screen is between us, just know that I'm sending you a warm welcome! The tiny teddy bear is one of Ginger Grand's favorites. He's another reason I enjoy creating these little moments so much. I share them with him during our Facetime chats and during our most recent, joked that I will give him a truck load of kisses the next time I see him.
I started by using two toile placemats to create a runner. Though I have used red transferware, it's the first time I've combined my vintage jadeite with toile and I rather like it. You may remember the mint green toy truck I displayed in my bedroom during the holidays--now it's filled with dark chocolate kisses and resting on one of my cake stands. The banner is crafted from dollar store felt hearts and paper arrows from a previous valentine garland. There's one of my farmhouse style conversation hearts in the center of a trio of vintage plates that are nestled in a chicken feeder tray. If you look closely, you can see a second one filled with bowls, tucked behind the cake stand.
My kitchen is pretty much styled around my vintage jadeite collection that's displayed year round, but I did create one little nook with only red and white kitchenware for Valentine's Day. The shelf holding my collection is a repurposed wooden crate I found from a yard sale ages ago, painted and flipped on its side. I really enjoy changing it up seasonally. So what's in your kitchen--do you have favorites that could be arranged differently for a welcome change?

It's rare indeed to see a photo of my kitchen without a hint of jadeite but I do love the combination of the red and white Pyrex and Fire King dishes. Here's a closer peek...

ReplyDeleteLook like Valentines Day to me. I want a huge box heart chocolates now
ReplyDeleteLove your little Valentine vignettes! I can imagine Ginger Grand leaving you nothing but crumpled tin foils in the back of your truck! I finished my first banner this a.m. Markdown stiff felt hearts from ACMoore glued onto paper doilies, embellished with tiny silk roses, white heart buttons, some wooden/felt hearts glued onto Valentine ribbon to hang, then 2 bows of the ribbon tied onto the red shiney string. Pleased with myself! It's going into a basket filled with Valentine-type things for a silent auction fundraiser. Hope someone enjoys it!
