Thrifty Tips for DIY Painted Shutters

Happy Monday, Friends! As the temperatures continue to soar here in Texas, I am doing less storm debris clean up and focusing on some necessary DIY repairs. Since my shutters took a beating from the hail, they needed some love and today I'm sharing some thrifty tips for the project...

15 Minute Upcycled Baluster Birdhouse

Hi there, Friends!  Today I'm sharing a 15 minute fix for the garden as part of the Creative Crafts blog hop hosted by Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate and Andrea from Design Morsels.  Some of you may already have the supplies to craft this baluster birdhouse tucked in a shed or hiding in the garage, or maybe like me, you have a little corner of the garden designated for to-do projects...

Vintage Inspired Summer Potting Stand

Hi there, Friends! I lost the shady spots in my garden when four trees were uprooted in a recent storm. Eventually I'll plant more trees, but I took a break from garden clean up to create a pretty potting space in a shadier area near my backdoor...

After the Storm: 6 Week Update

Monday Greetings, Friends! A little over six weeks have passed since the high winds and hail storm that damaged my garden. Vintage Silver Vase: Friday's Find #336

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Unfortunately, Texas is among the states with a spike in coronavirus cases. Sadly, I'm not surprised, as our "reopening process" was aggressive. Suffice it to say--I'm not out thrifting, but I do have a single vintage treasure to share with you today...

vintage silver vase

Last week, when I loaded up my car with storm debris, I found this vintage silver vase that had been overlooked.  I remember picking it up from a winter yard sale for $1...it must have been in January, since I haven't been to any sales since the pandemic.

I kept a box in the back of my hatchback that I decided to reuse for debris, and when I pulled it out, the pretty vase was hiding under a quilt! Likely, the day I bought it, I had multiple grocery bags to bring in and it was overlooked. Has anyone else done that?

Even so, it was a nice treat to "find" waiting in my car, and even lovelier with a thrifty grocery store bouquet! I love the patina and ornate details.
