Vintage Style Galentine Gathering

Happy Tuesday and welcome to the Valentine's Day Tablescape Hop hosted by my sweet friend Rita from Panoply! I've set up a casual galentine celebration featuring favorites from my vintage collections--please join me and 17 blogger friends for charming Valentine's Day inspiration

If you hopped over after visiting Ricki Jill from The Bookish Dilettante I'm so glad you're here! Fresh flowers are a sweet symbol of the holiday, and I am thrilled that this beautiful amaryllis that Dear Firstborn gave me for Christmas bloomed late enough to grace my galentine setting.

I challenged myself to use what I already have, gathering my favorite vintage tins, valentines, and dishes for a casual gathering.

I'm a big fan of Mary Engelbreit's whimsical art and the cherished valentine tins in this post are from the eighties. This one has always reminded me of Favorite Son when he was little, rosy cheeks and cowlick included!

Those of you who are familiar with my penchant for sharing sweets may be surprised that I opted for croissants and coffee this time but I wanted to remain true to using what I had on hand. 😉

Cupid will be the keeper of the croissants! Below, homemade heart-shaped butter pats add an indulgent touch to my intentional frugality.

As I've mentioned previously, creating beauty in your home doesn't have to be expensive. Stay tuned--next week I'll show you how easy it is to make these in minutes!

Here's a view of the full setting. Maybe you'll be inspired to celebrate the special "gals" in your life over a cup of coffee. A similar spread would also work for friends that may need to stop by at different times of the day.

Remember the Christmas tinsel tree I scored at a summer estate sale? You can see my retro valentine decorating details, here!

I've gathered vintage mugs and beverage napkins for your favorite coffee or tea!

  1. Hi! What a cute set up....I also press butter in a variety of molds and often flavor them with herbs or cinnamon sugar - such a special touch and prettier than a butter dish!! Your mugs have a cute pattern on them! Happy Valentine's Day

  2. Cecilia I want to come over for a snack...your croissants look so good and using the cute little butter pats are adorable. 3. Heart shaped butter pats are a unique idea and the decorations are spot on. The simpler style is better, much nicer than some of the other bloggers whose tables end up looking like an old Trident Import store.

  12. Cecilia, this is darling! I love Mary Engelbreit's artistry, too. The way these tins remind you of your own has to make them keepers - not for sale! Challenging yourself to use what you have is pretty easy when you're a thrifty shopper like you are! The overall table theme is full of vintage (love that dot bowl especially!). The amaryllis is beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your thrift store addiction. Happy Galentine's/Valentine's Day!
