Happy Monday, Friends! I've been fairly vocal over the years in voicing my thoughts when it comes to my least favorite season. Since we rarely get snow, winter here tends to blend into one gray day to the next. Even so, I am challenging myself to embrace the beauty during nature's season of rest

It was nearly 4 years ago when I captured the beautiful snowy day pictured above. As I've shared before, my mood is often affected by winter's "gray days." Can you relate? This season, I'm choosing to adopt wintering as self-care--giving myself permission to slow down, reflect, and embrace all things cozy--think soft throws and sweaters, fragrant candles, and the comfort of snuggling up with a good book and a warm drink!

I love the river's beautiful reflection of the bare trees!
My walks are often a quiet time to pray and reflect. I realized that I enjoy soft, muted shades indoors, so why not appreciate them outdoors? On my walk today, I purposely took photos that included a few objects that I would normally pass by as "dead."

I really like the juxtaposition of this gnarled tree truck and the spiky Cypress needles.

Beauty can be found in many unexpected places like these colorful murals--a new feature located on the walls of the underpass near parking at the river trails. The bird mural is my favorite...

...but the fish and deer murals are lovely too! The artist used a crane to reach the high walls.
