75th Birthday Celebration for Mom

Hi there, Friends! Tomorrow my Dear Mom is celebrating her 75th birthday. When she visited for Easter, I also planned an early birthday celebration for her...

Retired Vintage Snowbabies: Friday's Find #194

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends!  Do you stop at church rummage sales? Depending on how they are organized, it can take a little hunting, but I almost always score some great finds--like this week's fabulous features. I had to dig through a big box of ornaments but I found this assortment of vintage Department 56 retired Snowbabies collectibles...

Dark Chocolate Mini Cakes with Nutella Glaze...from a Boxed Cake Mix!

Happy Wednesday, Friends! When my family visited for Easter, we also celebrated my mother's birthday. Remembering the many birthday cakes she's baked for me over the years, I wanted to make something special for her. At the same time, since I was preparing a lot of other food for the brunch, I needed something simple. Today I'm sharing how I made these tea room pretty mini cakes using a boxed cake mix...

Simply Elegant Easter Brunch in the Garden

Happy Easter, Friends! I hope you are enjoying a blessed time with family and loved ones today. When I found out my mother, stepfather and Favorite Son would be visiting for Easter, I planned brunch in the garden. I've set a special table and scheduled this post ahead, so by the time you are reading this, we are probably enjoying our brunch. Won't you join us?

TGITF Friends! I'm always on the lookout for vintage plates to add to my transferware gallery wall, so I was thrilled to come across two patterns I haven't seen before. The larger one is Johnson Brothers Old Flower Prints and the smaller one is Myott, Son & Co. England Bonnie Dundee and the colors are perfect with my collection. {See the evolution of my plate gallery wall, here.}

The Good Shepherd Vintage Book Vignette

Hi there, Friends! With today being Palm Sunday and Easter just a week away, I am sharing something very close to my heart. When I was a little girl, there was an old Bible story book at my grandparents' house that captured my heart. Though it originally belonged to my uncle, it was eventually passed down to me to take home. This was my favorite of the many beautiful illustrations. Now to be honest, I haven't thought of that book in ages, that is until a recent thrifting adventure brought me...

TGITF Friends! It was love at first sight when my eyes landed on this adorable bunny teapot at one of the thrift stores I shop weekly. We've been having such gorgeous weather, I took some of my photos outside this week, but looks right at home with the vintage jadeite spring tablescape I shared several weeks ago.

15 Minute Upcycled Thrift Store Frame Chalkboard

Happy Wednesday, Friends!  First, I want to thank you for all of the kind words and prayers on behalf of Audrey and her husband. Here's her latest update:

Thank you to all of you that prayed for him. He is home now and feeling better, but has to wear a portable defibrillator for awhile in case of a heart attack. May God bless every one. Hugs, Audrey Z.

Now for today's 15 Minute Fix--this time the simple upcycle of two recent thrift store finds...

Chocolate Covered Berry Bouquet and a Special Prayer Request

Hi there, Friends! Chocolate covered strawberries are one of my favorite indulgences. They can be quite pricey to buy, so I make mine at home. While they are always a hit with guests, they tend to be a little messy, so I came up with a fun way to serve them on sticks. Come see how I used them to create a festive edible bouquet that's pretty enough to give as gift or serve as a small centerpiece for Easter or any occasion...

Antique Mall Bargains Including Vintage Postcards: Friday's Find #191

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Do you shop antique malls for hidden bargains? I know several bloggers who have booths at antique malls and I bet you know a few, too. I think at times there is a faulty assumption that items will be overpriced but that isn't always the case. This week's fabulous features are bargains scored at an antique mall that I visit occasionally. It's a favorite because some of the vendors offer prices comparable to those of thrift stores--it just takes a little hunting and knowing where to look. I adore vintage postcards and couldn't wait to tuck this pretty floral friendship card into a frame on my gallery wall, plus it's not the only one I found...

My Month in Numbers: February Edition

Hi there, Friends! Today's post is a departure from my usual. First of all, it's not a post about blog earnings or analytical stats--it's much more fun than that! When I read a post titled My Month in Numbers from Stephanie, blogger at Wife, Mommy, Me, I was intrigued and inspired. As I enjoyed seeing the numbers for the activities Stephanie chronicled, I imagined the events I might record. Come to find out, there's actually a link party hosted by Deena at Shoes to Shiraz--just in case you want to review your numbers and link up! So here's my version...

Friday's Find #187

TGITF Friends! Ready for the fabulous thrift store finds of the week? Since March is here, I couldn't pass on this wee leprechaun perched on a toadstool. Though he isn't marked on the bottom, after a little research I  learned he is vintage, from the sixties.

Modern Farmhouse Meets Family Heirlooms: How to Find Your Style

Hi there, Friends! Anyone who's watched an episode of Fixer Upper understands why farmhouse style is all the rage. While I love the show and admire the style, I'm not a fan of the mass produced frenzy to replicate the look. As with any style, it is best achieved over time, mixing new loves with cherished family favorites. The photos I'm sharing today are from my friend's home. I was so impressed with how effortlessly she paired new and old, I just had to share...

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends!  Today's first fabulous feature is class vintage Fire King, in a pattern I love, Primrose. I own several pieces of the charming floral pattern, but I've never found the luncheon plates before. They are missing the cups, but were priced accordingly, plus these could also serve as small snack trays.

Friday's Find #183

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Time for the fab features of the week. I am smitten with this trio of gorgeous gold rimmed stemware. They are only three inches tall and I'm more likely to use them for dessert than cocktails, but it's nice to have such a pretty option. Would you believe I paid less than .50 for all 3? It was 2 for .25  day at the Find's warehouse sale so...

Simple Mantel Transition from Winter Whimsy to Romantic Valentine

Hi there, Friends! I hope you've been having a relaxing weekend. Today I am sharing how simple it was to transition my whimsical winter mantel to a romantic one for Valentine's Day. You'll see how I kept the same basics, switched out a couple of accent pieces and added a few more.

Friday's Find #182

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! I've shared before how I inherited my love of thrifting from my maternal grandmother, Mo-maw. When I spied this doily covered napkin holder, I instantly thought of her. To my recollection, she never actually possessed a doily covered napkin holder, but Mo-maw did crochet and she had oodles of doilies. Perhaps because of the red rose center, it also made me think of Valentine's Day so I created a unique display for a few of my vintage valentines. Available
