Hi there, Friends! Today I've paired recent thrift store finds with my favorite cake stands to create a whimsical Valentine vignette.
Remember this set of Putz houses I found thrifting, just before Christmas? They needed a little love, but I knew when I saw them I wanted to create something fun and a little different for Valentine's Day.
I cleaned and repaired them as needed by filling the holes with spackle. Once it dried, I sprayed hairspray on the roofs, just before sprinkling them with DecoArt Glamour Dust. {If you've ever tried a new hairspray that you didn't care for, use it as a craft supply--it's perfect for this kind of project.}
I received Glamour Dust as a member of the DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program. See full disclosure here. |
Now they were ready to decorate! In my craft stash, I found wooden hearts and arrows, red felt heart trim and tiny glittery Valentine stickers.
I also added these sweet miniature cupids. I bought them several years ago on clearance after Valentine's Day and love their vintage inspired design. They actually have mini clothespins on the backs. I just put a little Tacky on the clips to secure them to the houses. Once Valentine's Day is over, I'll be able to reuse the houses and the cupids as desired. Each house received its own cupid {or two.}
Then I displayed each on a different cake stand, with jadeite in the center and red stands on each side.
My friend Carly gave me this cute red cake stand for Christmas. The scalloped edges match my other red one and I really like the wood pedestal.
You can see I had fun playing!

Vintage linens are always charming for Valentine's Day. I hung my vintage tablecloth bunting and created a runner under the cake stands with vintage hankies from my collection.
Joyful is a happy heart!
MY HEARTFELT THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING FOR FEATURING THIS POST:
Oh my goodness...so cute! I am in love with your plate hanger on the wall too! I must try and find one of those!
ReplyDeleteHow cute, Cecilia!. I don't do a lot of decorating for Valentine's Day but this is adorable. Love the houses decorated with the hearts, the cake stands, and vintage linens. I'm ready to put away the snowmen and snowflakes So maybe I'll do a small display as well. You always have the best ideas!

ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Love the banner and the red scalloped piece sitting on the wooden cake stand. Is it part of it or something just sitting on top? Can't really tell, but I like it.
