Hi there, Friends! Though chocolate will always be my first choice for Valentine's Day, there's just something about conversation heart candy that takes me back to school Valentine parties. Do you have similar memories? I decided to recreate the childhood favorite but instead of painting them the traditional pastel shades I used black and white for a touch of farmhouse style. Ready to make your own?
First, you'll need wooden hearts. I found mine at the thrift store so keep an eye out for not-so-pretty pieces that can be upcycled with paint. I've also included links for supplies at the bottom of the post.
By using chalkboard paint for the black heart, you can change the message as often as you like!
As a member of the DecoArt Blogger Outreach program I received complimentary paint. See full disclosure here. |
Try using a white pencil instead of chalk for small lettering. It stays on better than chalk but can still be wiped off with water. Too busy to DIY? I have several chalkboard hearts AVAILABLE HERE!
Paint the second heart white. I used Americana Decor chalky finish. Use a fine point Sharpie to write the message. If you want to display your conversation hearts year round, paint both sides so a different message can be added after Valentine's Day.

MY HEARTFELT THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING FOR FEATURING THIS POST:
Those are fun hearts! I have a love for those conversation hearts, too, but now they have common slang that we hear today. I wish they'd go back to the basics!
