Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! My featured find this week is a vintage cigar box with lots of potential...
When I've found vintage cigar boxes previously, they've been cardboard. The carved wood really intrigued me and I'm looking forward to repurposing it as decor. The box appears to be quite old and while it's stamped Peterson established in 1890 on the bottom, I wasn't able to find a comparable box to date it. I know many of you enjoy finding beauty in older pieces like this, so if you have any information to share, please leave me a comment!
The remaining finds are an assortment of wood crafts. What sets them apart is that they are all bare wood which is slightly unusual and will be a pleasant change when it comes to upcycling them. A set of wooden hearts...
...a sturdy wooden tray and
a plaque--all versatile and perfect for crafting during the winter months!
Until next time, happy hunting!
I have a few of the wooden cigar boxes. Can't wait to see how you repurpose.
ReplyDeleteNice cigar box! Finding bare wood pieces is always a bonus. Can't wait to see what you do with them!

Valentine's Day is coming up! I see something made especially for that day out of the hearts you found.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with these treasures. Those hearts look like they belong on a Valentine tree or strung on a banner, embellished somehow! I love wooden cigar boxes; I always want to turn them into a dollhouse vignette. You use the box for the scene and the lid for more like a grassy lawn with low growing flowers, etc. that doesn't interfere with the lid closing. Such a surprise when someone opens it! Do you know any family named Peterson? Could be a treasure to them! Our local Christmas Tree Shop has such wonderful napkins to decoupage; I'd run for some spring bouquet ones here today; Al dug us out from yesterday's blizzard. Sick of winter already.
ReplyDeleteAlong with rusty, old and wooden is my favorite kind of vintage. You found some great ones to play with!
ReplyDeleteThe cigar box is very neat!
ReplyDeleteLove it all, the box and tray I would probably use for sewing notions. Great finds!
ReplyDeleteNothing better than finding nice wooden pieces to repurpose. A useful tray is always needed. Anxious to see what you do with these great finds.
