Happy Wednesday, and welcome to another 15 Minute Fix! Today I'm sharing a simple farmhouse vignette inspired by vintage industrial pieces I scored at a local antique mall...
Just before Memorial Day, I had an appointment in Fredericksburg and after, decided to browse a few of my frequent haunts. In case you aren't familiar, it's a small historic town with a big tourist attraction. Main Street is lined with an eclectic assortment of shops, but my favorites are off the beaten path like the Antique Mall where I scored the marked down treasures for today's fix. This...
and these...
...which I used to create this! By the way, does anyone know the original use of the green metal pots? They look like some type of industrial light or equipment part but I couldn't find any similar images. If you know, I'd love to hear from you in the comments!
For the piggy chalkboard, I used a white pencil to stencil the lettering. I know, I know, but I have accepted that chalkboard art is not my strength! The stencil font is great, plus the white pencil is easier to use and stays on better than chalk. It just takes a little more rubbing when you want to erase it. {7 minutes}
Next, I arranged an assortment of plates from my jadeite collection inside the tray. Its design works almost like plate railing. Then I added a vintage hankie in the center and a little green pot on either side, leaving space for...
...fragrant herbs and the piggy board! {6 minutes} I love the juxtaposition of the delicate dishes and colorful herbs next to the rustic metal of the tray and pots.
Here's a view of it nestled with the rest of my collection on the repurposed potting stand across from my back door. A heavenly fragrance greets me when I come through the door!
I love it. Cecilia ... I have several of these toolbox trays so maybe I will copy you and if I have time, will make some of these displays for our Garage Sale this week-end. Hope you are coming.

The perfect plate rack! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cute farmhouse display Cecilia. I don't know what the "flower pots" are either. Pinned
ReplyDeleteThis is very sweet! I sold a tool tray like this and while I was packing it I realized I could have used it in a great centerpiece like yours! Next time I find one I am keeping it.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Could the pots be painted zinc seedling pots? Or reproductions of those?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful use of a tool tray. You know I love the Jadeite and it works so well with the little green pots. A toolbox tray is going on my "wanted" list.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that!! I have not yet graduated to the level of picking up a vintage anything and knowing what I will do with it. Thanks for inspiring those of us who are still learning :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute Cecilia. Definitely has a farmhouse feel! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
