Happy Monday, Friends! It's time for the latest 15 minute fix. This year I've purposed to keep my Christmas decor simple. Instead of decorating with my large tree or nutcracker-inspired decor, I'm opting for several small nearly naked trees. I shared the first a few weeks ago featured in my repurposed sewing basket tree stand. I say "nearly" naked because I'll add mini lights and a tiny floating garland. Today I'll show you how to use mini pinecones from the dollar store to create this simple garland...

When I saw these tiny frosted pinecones at Dollar General, I was instantly drawn to them, but instead of creating individual ornaments, I decided to craft a floating garland using fishing line.

This project is so easy--it's simply a matter of threading a pinecone onto the fishing line, double knotting it, and adding the next pinecone according to the desired spacing.

Easy peasy! The garland pictured used two $1 cards of pinecones.

Here's a close-up of it on my snowy miniature tree from Walmart...

...and here, you can get a better look at the tree. My trees are three and four feet, but you can add height by using different containers as I have. I bought my trees in October, because my local store tends to run out quickly. If you are unable to find the snowy burlap trees at your store, I've added links for similar trees at the end of the post.

Very, very nice touch, Cecilia!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I was wondering why you were buying pine cones, but that little eye hook already inserted makes them a bargain! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteyou did good, that is very elegant in it's simplicity
