Welcome Friends! Welcome to the Merry Musical Christmas Blog Hop! Are you enjoying the holidays? I've been busy decorating and celebrating and haven't made my usual thrift store trips, but Friday's Find will resume shortly. I'm always surprised by how quickly the season passes, and this year is no different! What comes to mind when you think of a musical Christmas? Carols, or maybe your favorite Christmas movie? If you've visited my blog during past Christmas seasons, you may remember that I have very fond memories of The Nutcracker Ballet and two little ballerinas...
Thanks to Amber, at Follow the Yellow Brick Home, for hosting the tour, and if you've hopped over from visiting Angelina, at Petite Haus, I know you enjoyed her charming decor! Come on in! I snapped this shot from the hallway looking into the living room--a perspective I don't often consider.
Here's a better of view of my mirror--an upcycled thrift store find! You can see the reflection of the garland trimmed doorway where I took the previous photo. I'm trying to be more creative rather than always capturing the same places in the room.
I've had this little metal Peace sign for years. This year, I decided to hang it over the doorway.
On the wall to the left, I hung a vintage sheet music wreath. I actually made this in my pre-blogging days. It's kind of made the rounds in my house since then, but it was actually the first thing I thought of when Amber suggested this musical tour.
After hanging it, I decided to spruce it up a bit for Christmas. I started with some glittery initials for each of our family members. This year I gained both a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law, so, two new letters were added!
I thought it still needed a little something, so I added some family photographs.
My toile chair is an upcycled estate sale find, and my pillow was crafted with placemats. {Click here, to make your own Christmas placemat pillow!}
I've shared my Nutcracker Ballet inspired dress form before, but it's been a few years. When my girls were little, they performed in the Nutcracker every year. To this day, I still get nostalgic when I hear the music.
The Rat King!
I decorate the dress form as an alternative Christmas tree with lots of ballet pink and sparkles!
The tree skirt is ruffled burlap, and this year I added handmade doily garland, too.
Here, you can see where it's placed in the living room. {Click here, for a closer look at my upcycled vintage chandy!}
More ballet inspired decor--a glittery nutcracker and toe shoes!
Just above, hangs my DIY vintage ornament wreath...
...and just below, a miniature nutcracker vignette complete with Baby Jesus!
I styled the top of my armoire with fresh greenery and more vintage ornaments. I adore the colors!
Here's a view from the opposite side of the room. {If you want to see how much of my furniture actually came from thrift stores--look here!}
Come let us adore Him! The reason for the season! {Find out how to make this vintage farmhouse sign, here!
Merry Musical Christmas, Friends!

I love it, Cecilia. Your finds are always amazing and inspiring. The rat king is so cute.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks amazing. Your beautiful home always shines at Christmas! I will always adore your dress form Christmas tree!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Cecilia! I adore the sheet music creations. Your home has put a song in my heart!
ReplyDeleteIt's all so beautiful, Cecilia! I love the non-traditional colors that you've used. So fun to join you here. Have a Merry Christmas!!!
ReplyDeleteCecilia,
ReplyDeleteLove your Nutcracker Ballet dress form decorated for Christmas!
Judith
The dress form is gorgeous! I love the pink/aqua/white colors together; your home has a very serene feel to it. My daughter has always been a N. fan and I traditionally add another to the collection every year (this year was a thrifted cowboy caramel dog!). They are horselovers and her dog is cream colored; it was just too cute! SO's granddaughter is into dance, so another tradition is buying a dancer ornament (on sale or with a c/o of course!). Finished 2 more projects this a.m.--reversible Christmas/Valentine table runners with embroidery floss tassels on the pointed ends. Now, another round of wrapping!
ReplyDeleteCecilia, this tour has really put me in the Christmas spirit! You have so many pretty things and have created so many lovely vignettes. I am swooning over the toile chair. You are so talented...that wreath is beautiful! Merry Christmas!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is all so pretty Cecilia! I love your Nutcracker inspired dress form and how you included your family members initials on your sheet music wreath too. It's really pretty. Of course, I'm bananas for all the glittery accents and the pops of pink. It's fabulous! I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too, CoCo
ReplyDeleteI love your decor, Cecilia! I just went to The Nutcracker ballet for the first time last week...I loved it! The Nutcracker inspired dress is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteCecilia, I absolutely love your nutcracker inspired decor!! When I was young, we went to the nutcracker every year, it’s such a magical ballet! I absolutely adore the dressform tree with the sweet nutcracker ornaments! Just beautiful!!!

Hi Cecilia! I really enjoyed your Christmas tour! I love your giant thrift store find mirror and your pink couch is stunning! I love to thrift as well, it brings me so much joy. I was so happy to join you in this awesome blog hop today! Merry Christmas!

Cecilia this is absolutely beautiful. I love everything you styled in this room. The tree dress is so pretty I love that. Love all your touches!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on the musical theme - so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove your decorating from a fellow ballet and music fan.
ReplyDeleteCecilia, the dress form is just beautiful. The memories of Christmas past are always special and I love that you incorporate that into your decor. The music wreath is so sweet! It is great hopping with you! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletePretty, Cecilia! Nutcracker has a very special meaning to my family as well. My girls (and I!) danced in Nutcracker many times, but my oldest danced the part of Clara in 2005. However, it was the Sugar Plum Fairy role that she loved dancing most. Your decor is beautiful, and I love your color scheme all together.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the Nutcracker and seeing the Atlanta Ballet company perform it was magical. My Grandgirl is in love with ballet this year and was the Sugar Plum Fairy for Halloween. We bought several ballet ornaments this year.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of your wall, and it's so pretty with all the pink and white nutcracker theme! I got a little misty when you mentioned getting sentimental about your girls being in the Nutcracker. I wish I could re-live the wonderful shows my daughter's done through the years; ah, good memories:) And getting pics from different viewpoints...always a blogger's challenge! Merry Christmas, Cecilia!
ReplyDeleteCecilia, I always love your dress form. The nutcracker ornaments are perfect! I also love how you upscaled your wreath. I got in a cleaning mode last year after Christmas and I threw my rolled ornament wreath away. Must admit, I am missing it! Merry Christmas!

Cecelia, I agree, the time just flys past! I was out of town the first week of December, so it seem like I haven't had sufficient time to just enjoy the holidays in our home. Fortunately I was decorated before leaving town, but still time has rushed past. I love seeing your darling dress form tree. The Nutcracker Ballet ornaments are adorable. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI just love your Nutcracker ballet theme! I love the music and story. Your dress form is so pretty with the ornaments! I have always wanted to make one of those sheet music wreaths, it's on "the list" of winter projects. I also love that pretty bell and ornament garland on your mirror. You have created a delightful music theme, and I love seeing some new angles with your photography.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining the hop! Have yourself a "merry musical" Christmas!
Cecelia!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post ! I simply adore that wreath and have always wanted to make one.... Thanks so much for haring! I love how you decorated yous!!
