Rosemary Ginger Pear Bread

Happy Monday, Friends! Today I have a tasty bread recipe for you with a delightful flavor combination: rosemary, ginger, and pear. I really can't describe how wonderfully these flavors complement each other--you'll just have to taste for yourself...

At my house, pears are kind of like avocados: not ripe, not ripe, not ripe, too soft! This recipe is the perfect solution to salvage pears that are a little too soft to enjoy fresh.

Here's what you'll need:

1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp finely grated fresh ginger
1 tbsp fresh rosemary minced
1 1/4 cups diced pears
(mixed in 1 tbsp sugar/ 1 tbsp lemon juice)
1 cup flour
1/2 cup wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

First: Blend the melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Next: Add the herbs to the pears and stir into the melted butter mixture. Then: In a separate bowl, sift the dry ingredients together and add gradually to the pear mixture.

Last: Pour bread batter in a parchment lined loaf pan and bake at 300 degrees until golden brown. (Optional: Sprinkle with coarse sugar crystals the last few minutes of baking.)  Enjoy! I love it hot from the oven but it's delicious at any temperature.

  1. Sounds good! I love making breads with fruit in them. I don't often buy fresh pears as I miss the DAY they should be eaten too often. I often used canned ones in juice--no waste!
