Holly and Ivy Christmas Brunch Tablescape

Happy Friday, Friends! I'm celebrating the season with a festive tablescape inspired by the Christmas carol, The Holly & the Ivy and featuring my vintage jadeite collection. Plus, I'm joining my blogger friends hosted by Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate to bring you over 20 Christmas tablescapes through the week...

In case you're not familiar with the old carol, or if you would like to print it, I made this graphic. (Save it as a PNG.) I paired my vintage jadeite with thrifted holly...

...and ivy dishes! The pretty ivy plates are from England. Peppermint tea is one of my favorites year round. Did you notice the small ornaments at each place?

Each features a different garden element: a birdhouse, watering can, garden glove, and wheelbarrow. The pretty trinkets are made by Smith & Hawken and I picked them up years ago on Christmas clearance at Target. The ivy napkins are a thrift store find.

My simple centerpiece is a vintage doe and fawn planter I picked up at a vintage market. I added fresh ivy from my garden and placed in on top of an inverted cake stand for height.

  7. Cecilia, I've always loved that song and the more traditional old world caroles. Your table is absolutely charming! I especially love the vintage planter. One of my favorite things is a vintage Santa floral planter I received while in the hospital to have my appendix removed. Best of all, I got to go home early on Xmas Eve. Every year I fill it with live holly to remember.

  8. Cecilia, I am so reliving my childhood past at Christmas time seeing the cute little deer centerpiece. The lovely ivy plates mixed with holly gives it such a vintage, nostalgic feel, especially when mixed with your jadeite collection. What a lovely collection to have since you have definitely proved that it can be used for all occasions, including Christmas. What a lovely setting for a Christmas brunch where it is sure to inspire a wonderful time. Many blessings to you during this holiday season.

  10. I regret not buying the jadeite dishes at the thrift store some years back. They really are a standout on this pretty table. Also, as a tea lover this kitchen table setting gives me the warm fuzzies and how cute is the deer centerpiece?!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

  11. I wished I lived nearby so I could drop in for a cup of peppermint tea, also one of my favorites! Your kitchen is REAL. So many I've seen look like you could do surgery on the countertops; they are clinically clean and empty. Yours in so cozy and I can imagine a story in each piece and collection. It looks like home should!

  12. I love how you incorporated the holly and the ivy in your tablescape! I have a very soft spot for ivy, it is the symbol of my college sorority. I love to collect anything with ivy on it. Holly is also one of my favorite motifs at Christmastime. It adds such a lovely contrast to all of the Christmas greenery. The jadite is a complement to all of your plates. I am not a tea drinker, but give me a peppermint hot chocolate anytime! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  15. Cecilia, what a sweet, pretty and creative setting! I'm not familiar with The Holly and the Ivy - I'm going to take a listen when I'm done here - but the table you created certainly speaks to the lyrics! The ornaments at each setting are perfect for a garden lover, and are such a lovely contrast against the jadeite. The peppermint sticks are so striking against the greens and greenery. That little pop of red and white is just perfect. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
