15 Minute Upcycled Thrift Store Birds

Happy Monday, Friends! It's time for another 15 minute fix! Today I'm sharing a simple thrift store upcycle that can be completed in no time...

I have a few metal bird figurines, and I love their versatility--I've used them in vignettes and tablescapes, indoors and outside. However, I didn't have any that were quite so small, so I grabbed these when I found them half price at one of my favorite thrift stores.

I wasn't a fan of the dark color, but I knew a little paint would work wonders. I had this pale green shade on hand. Each bird needed one coat and only took about 5 minutes to dry.

As a finishing touch, I distressed them lightly with fine sandpaper. Voila!

  1. At this point, I never shop new anymore. And, I love seeing someone rescue and update items, especially those that might end up in landfills. Great fix---love the metal birds---and it is simple to give things a coat of paint!

  2. Like the lighter color sooo much better-springy and will tone with your Jadeite, too! Given a choice between GW and Wal-Mart, it's GW. Hit it Sun. afternoon and bought more than my share of 75% off winter hats and gloves for my church project of Cold Kids for next year, some sox, leggings, and a fuzzy jacket for adult kids and grands. Then I found vintage treasures! $1 sheets for Ladies' Aide bandages. Cloth for dollclothes, you name it!

  3. These look so great! Painting is such a good idea for updating thrift store goodies!
