15 Minute Spackling DIY

Happy Monday, Friends! Today I'm sharing my latest 15 minute fix for repairing the not-so-welcome leftovers after the holiday decor is stored--tiny holes in the walls. You can complete this simple DIY with supplies from the dollar store...

If you've read even a few of my posts, you know I'm not shy about hanging and rehanging seasonal decor like my vintage ornament wall Christmas tree.  I doubt you have as many holes to repair as I did after tacking each ornament by hand, so you'll probably finish in less than 15 minutes.

Look closely near the black arrows and you'll see what I mean. I buy this lightweight premixed spackling at Dollar Tree and keep it on hand so I can hang and rehang to my heart's content. 😉 My only "rule" is that I repair the holes from the last project before beginning a new one!

I use a Q-tip to apply the spackling and smooth it with my finger. Holes this tiny don't usually require light sanding or a painting touch up like larger ones do. Although I promptly covered up my fresh repair with different decor, here's an after of my fresh framed palette.

Remember the delicate snowflake garland I scored during the post-holiday sales?

I love it as a nod to winter--even if it is 70 degrees as I write this--and I am not complaining!

  1. In '79, I lived in my new house for 18 months with very little on the walls as my (now deceased ex-) husband did not want to put nail holes in the walls till he painted. I finally rebelled and learned how to hang small pictures on common pins with heads inserted at a slight upward angle. I filled holes with white toothpaste back then! I also have been known to use self-stick Velcro on institutional walls that we were not allowed to make holes in! Holds lightweight stuff just fine! I love your system--and all of your wall decor!
