Hi there, Friends! I'm so glad you've stopped by for the first Creative Craft Blog Hop of the year! Today I'll show you how to upcycle not-so-pretty clearance art to craft a whimsical framed vintage valentine display to brighten up these winter days...
If you hopped over after visiting Gail from Purple Hues and Me, welcome! Remember the DIY framed pressed leaf art I shared last fall?
I kept the doilies, because valentines and doilies go together like bread and butter. Ready to make your own?

Here's what you'll need:
Doilies (I used crocheted, but paper doilies will work too!)
(It's strong enough to hold the doilies in place, but won't damage the valentines if you need to remove them.)
First: attach the doilies to the base with the adhesive putty. (Be generous so they will adhere firmly.) Next: Arrange the valentines until you are pleased with the placement.
...and top left valentines are three-dimensional. These are the lids of my favorite Mary Engelbreit valentine tins that I hung with a thumbtack and secured with a little extra adhesive.
Voila, Valentine!
Here's a peek at my "new" upcycle hanging over the mantel.

ReplyDeleteAdorable. I especially liked the 3-dimensional look of using the tin lids! (this is from someone who punches holes in cardboard coasters to make garlands!!!). The added dimension adds interest IMO. I love vintage Valentines and especially liked the kitten, too!
ReplyDeleteLoving your frame and the Valentine cards, this is a great idea using a picture frame
