Updated Family Gallery Wall

Happy Monday, Friends! As promised, this week I'm sharing my updated family gallery wall. I've added a few new frames, held onto some vintage favorites, and arranged some cherished handmade treasures to accomodate my growing family. Plus, I have a fun announcement to share...

My family gallery wall is in the hallway. It is narrow and tends to be the darkest area of the house. My collection of family photos definitely brightens the space, but it can be a challenge to photograph. Last week, I shared how to make this simple This is Us sign. I hung it in the left upper corner. Previously, all of the frames were shades of ivory, but one of the updates was adding a few accents in shades of aqua.

Continuing from the left side, is one of my all-time favorite photos of Ginger Grand. He was not thrilled about photo day at his daycare, and his facial expression says it all! I love the way he is clinging to Rupert. Rupert is the teddy bear I gave that sweet boy the day he was born. He has lost most of his stuffing, but after eight years, is still well-loved.

Moving further down the wall is the vintage movie reel I repurposed as a frame and a photo of Dear Firstborn's college graduation.

Above and to the right is Youngest Daughter's college graduation--under that gown, she's carrying Ginger Grand! Both of my girls have since earned their master's degrees.

Last year, I gained a Darling Daughter-in-Law and a Sweet Son-in-Law when Favorite Son got married in February followed by Youngest Daughter's wedding in June. I created a collage mixing some of my favorites from both weddings. Can you believe I found this frame after making the sign? The color is identical!

Moving up and to the right, are photos of 16-year-old Favorite Son and I pictured at Christmas and then a few years later at his vintage graduation party, which was one of my first blog posts. I also framed a sweet note he sent me the first Mother's Day after he left home.

Underneath, I added a fun hanging collage. I love that the letters spelling "family" resemble vintage typewriter keys. I found it at Tuesday Morning for $6!

It will be fun and convenient to change out photographs periodically with the tiny clips.

When Ginger Grand visited this summer, we wrote each other notes. His creative "Heart-man" at the bottom makes appearances on many of his drawings for me and is one of my favorites.

Do you remember this summer clearance find? I painted it when I mixed the paint for the other sign.

Here's a view of the full wall. Keep in mind, my photography angles were limited in the narrow space, but after seeing most of the individual frames, this gives you a pretty good glimpse.

  1. What a great wall. I am one of those people who never tire of looking at other people's pictures! You have a lovely family. My daughter married between jr. and sr. year at college and had a baby bump when she got her masters, too! That baby was 14 today! Time flies!

  2. Your family gallery wall is so beautiful! You're right, it certainly brightens up space. Love how you combined vintage, modern and cheerful frames. My favorite one is the one with the clips where you can change photos to showcase newest events and precious family moments together. Lovely idea!
