Greetings Friends! Ahhh, fall...the season of pumpkin spice and everything nice! With seasonal gatherings and parties, there are so many tasty treats to try that healthy habits can easily be forgotten. Even so, getting enough fruits and veggies doesn't have to be bland or boring and today I'm sharing several festive featured recipes...
Let's start with persimmons--they can be in season from late October through February,
depending on where you live. I had never tasted them until last year when a friend shared some of her harvest with me. I roasted mine with rosemary, honey and cinnamon. Delicious, nutritious and full of antioxidants! Find the recipe here!
Next, this savory pumpkin hummus tastes good with pita chips, fresh veggies and even Granny Smith apples. It's super easy and made with organic can pumpkin. Find it here!
I made this fun fruit and veggie turkey with Ginger Grand last Thanksgiving and he loved it! I kept it small and simple so he could help, but it could be made larger to serve more people. See how we made it here!
Happy, healthy snacking!

Last year was the first time I had ever tasted persimmons...I couldn't believe how sweet and good they are!!! I have a cousin who lives in Washington State, and every year she comes to visit us at this time of year...she and her Hubby bring us apples, persimmons, and all other kinds of fresh produce...and it doesn't taste anything like store bought. Yes, we are very lucky to have Cousin Erika and her Hubby in our lives!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to confess that I finally gave in a tried out the persimmon. I thought they were bitter for some reason...silly me!
What a fun and helpful post for our seasonal foods! Thank you for sharing this on the Art of Home-Making Mondays :)
