Happy Monday, Friends! You've probably seen at least one variety of the fountain planters that are so popular this summer. If you're like me, you may prefer to use what you have to create this look and today I'll show you how I shopped my garden for this easy DIY project
I've mentioned before that I'm a big fan of these inexpensive solar fountain pumps.
Maybe you've seen tutorials featuring matching nesting pots or similar kits for DIY solar fountain planters. I prefer the rustic charm of displaying mismatched pots so when the marigolds I planted started growing off center to reach for more sun, inspiration struck!
Here's what you'll need: (Remember to shop your garden first!)
Large pot and flowers/plants
Smaller matching or galvanized metal pot (Make sure it's large enough for the pump and has no drainage.)
Optional: Small garden ornament (bird)
First, decide on a planter and flowers--whether you are starting from scratch with a new planter or taking a page from my book by using an existing one, you can create a similar look by following these steps. Next, place the smaller pot that will hold water and the fountain pump on a plant saucer. Last, add the solar pump, fill the smaller pot with water, and finish with a small decoration like my little bird if desired.
I placed mine where I can view it from my backdoor and interestingly, the birds seem to prefer it to the birdbath fountain!
HONORED TO BE FEATURED HERE:
I have been wanting a solar fountain in a farmhouse style for years so I can hardly wait to do this! Thank you for sharing it with us on Farmhouse Friday 360. I'm featuring it tomorrow! pinned
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, Cecilia. Saw your feature on Cindy's blog. Btw, I am no longer receiving email updates on your posts, so whatever was before, has now gone away. I will followup on your posts when I see Kathleen's Vintage Charm Party notice.
