Where I Create!

Happy Wednesday Friends! Today I'm joining Karen at My Desert Cottage for Where Bloggers Create 2015.  You'll love seeing all of the inspiring creative spaces, but first--come and see where I create...

Vintage garden bike
Though I create and publish blog posts in any number of spots in my home, if I had to choose one place as a creative space it would be my garden.  It is both my sanctuary and happy place as well as the place most of my DIY projects are completed, like my most recent above.  I had been searching for a vintage bike for the garden for some time and when Dear Firstborn came to visit, she brought me this one!  Here's how it looked before I repainted it and flipped the seat over as planter:

Last year I shared some of my favorite spots in the garden and how they inspire me.  It has been one of my most popular posts.  If you are new to my blog, you can see more here.

Secret Garden Herbs

This year I tried to capture some different views to illustrate my outdoor studio.  This is the back wall of my house near the entrance of the garden. You can see the broken chair I painted and repurposed as a trellis, peeking out.  The honeysuckle has formed a fragrant green curtain--instant aromatherapy to soothe and inspire!

It's been said that music enhances productivity.  The bubbling fountain is my music...

...just listen!

If you have seen any of my garden posts, you've probably seen rosemary in at least one of the photos! Pictured is my first rosemary plant.  What started as my attempt to camouflage an awkward tree stump by planting two gallon plants, has become this vast sea of herbal goodness!  Once I saw how well it thrived here, I planted more...and more....and now it is the best seller at Secret Garden Herbs.   It is very rewarding to watch something you planted with love, flourish and such a blessing to have brides include my herbs in their weddings!

I am not sure how many times I walk this main path to and from the garden each day! Perhaps I should count ... ;)

These hydrangeas are a recent addition.  Over the years I've made many attempts, but most of my yard has afternoon sun.  In my part of Texas, only three hours of morning sun is recommended and that has been the challenge.  Finally, this year I found a spot that has more shade.  I adore them!

Do you have a favorite "thinking chair?"  I have a few where I write on my laptop. First, in the garden....

...then also in my bedroom.  Creativity seems to flow easier when I'm comfy--do you agree?

Flowers are a constant muse for me.  I am constantly looking for distinctive ways to bring the outdoors in.  The vibrant hues of these sweet smelling roses served as the inspiration for an upcoming post.

Here's a sneak peek....

Thanks so much for visiting my creative space.  I'm heading to the party to check out more eye candy--see you there!

  1. Haha, I see we are on the same page with a bicycle. Love the after, can't wait to get mine out in the garden.

My clay soil here in Pflugerville kills my herbs. I have a couple growing in pots but others I've tried just die. Found out I have them in the wrong type of soul so I'm going to try again.

Looking forward to gardening full time at the farm with its sandier soil!
Have a wonderful rest of the week. Hugs,
    Cecilia

  8. I love that you create beauty with living things in your open air studio! There is nothing more delightful than a garden and yours is wonderful. Love the bike. I have always longed for a secret garden but I am so much better at painting flowers than growing them. Thank you for sharing.

  10. It's obvious I'm running late to the party, but I am so glad to be here now. I had a bit of trouble because I couldn't get rid of the "hello bar" which followed me and made it hard to see much on the screen.

I did enjoy your lovely garden, though, and can see how much fun it must be to post to your blog out there. I suspect you don't get the harsh winters I get, so this would be an ideal spot to sit and contemplate. Thanks for sharing your lovely outdoor garden "studio" with us.

  11. Cecilia, I agree with you. A little time each morning in my garden makes the difference in the whole day. I LOVE how you covered the chair with lace and fabric. Wonderful! Thank you for visiting my wbc blog post.

  12. I start every day in my gardens, we have no grass and what a difference it has made for attracting birds and bugs.
I like what you did with the bike, they look so neat propped up in a garden, especially when you add a pot of flowers.
    Happy Crafting.

  15. Lovely tour! Your garden is wonderful, and I know that you live in a gorgeous part of Texas. Here in central Florida rosemary thrives also. I started out with a tiny clump, now I have a half dozen large plants, and several small ones. It is one of my favorites. thanks so much for sharing.

  19. I love the bicycle! My mother still had her bike from when she was a kid, and I suggested that she turn it into a planter. I love the bright red paint you used for yours. Looks great!!!

  22. Cecilia, I can't think of a better place to create than in the garden! It relaxes and lifts my spirits as well. Love how your Rosemary is thriving. Here it is just an annual so I keep one in a pot. Love cooking with it. Thanks for sharing your space with SYC.
