TGITF Friends! I'm sure you are familiar with the expression It's the journey, not the destination...
Some years back, there was a really fun flea market about twenty miles from my house. It has been closed for awhile, but recently I'd heard it had reopened. I made plans to go last weekend and before I left, looked online to check the hours. I was disappointed to find more than one source said it had closed again. Boo! There is a nice antique mall I occasionally shop in the same area, so I decided to go there instead. On my way, I saw a Sale sign and some interesting junk outside a brick building, so I stopped. Once inside, these lovelies were the first thing I spied and they were the best price I have seen! I adore old door knobs and had been looking for more--score!
I also found these cuties! I have an affection for vintage salt and peppers and had never seen these little praying ladies before. I learned they were manufactured by Enesco in the 50s. I love that they feature scriptures on their aprons: Give us our daily bread and We give thee thanks for all thy gifts. Available!
Since I bought several door knobs and the S and Ps, the owner gave me a deal from the already reasonable prices. I will definitely be going back there! Also, she told me that the flea market was open, so I headed to my original destination. Unfortunately, most of the spaces were empty and it was slim pickings but I did find this vintage cookbook for $1!
These pretty crocheted pot holders are from one of my favorite thrift stores. I think they are so charming and they don't look like they have ever been used! Available!
I found the last two items at a yard sale about a block from my house at the home of one of Youngest Daughter's former teachers in high school. He always brings up YD even though it has been eight years since she graduated. He and his wife are a sweet couple and I always find goodies at their sales--like this set of vintage Pyrex in the Spring Blossom pattern... SOLD!
Great finds!
