Happy Tuesday, Friends and welcome to this month's Creative Craft Blog Hop hosted by Sara from Birdz of a Feather! I shopped my garden to create today's craft: a fragrant luminary featuring honeysuckle and rosemary. Join me and my talented friends for fun crafting inspiration
If you hopped over after visiting Donna from Modern on Monticello, I know you enjoyed her cute kid-friendly craft! I gathered two of my favorite scents from the garden: honeysuckle and rosemary! However, you can personalize your luminary with any fresh flowers or greenery you prefer.
Before I share the tutorial, here's a view of the finished luminary before and after lighting the candles.
Once you gather flowers and/or greenery, you will also need floating candles and a clear glass vase or even a mason jar. Start by adding water to the vase. Next, arrange the fresh flowers as desired. Last, top with floating candles.
Although I alternated the honeysuckle and rosemary, you'll notice from this peek at the back side that the rosemary floated toward the back while the honeysuckle stayed toward the front. I find the natural arrangement lovely and as you might imagine, it smells heavenly!

ReplyDeleteHoneysuckle is one of my favorites from the garden, Cecilia. This is a wonderful way to bring the garden inside!
ReplyDeleteI bet that smells amazing. I love all the combinations you used inside your container and how pretty it all looks. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is so unique and super cool using fragrant flowers and greenery to make a luminary, Cecilia! Using honey suckles bring back childhood memories of picking and bringing them home to smell!

ReplyDeleteYou just took me back to childhood Cecilia! My best friend and I plucked honey suckle from her mother's bush, thinking we could create our own perfume, I can assure you, our former six year old selves knew nothing of perfume making, and it was a disaster! The most vile smell... but it does not deter me from still from the smell of honeysuckle now. I love your display. I also have that exact same dresser scarf, it was my grandmother's. What a wonderful way to display your freshly picked spoils.
ReplyDeleteCecilia, I brought 3 floating candles a few months ago and they are still in their paper wrapping. You've given me the inspiration to get them out and make a pretty arrangement. We have plenty of rosemary. The honeysuckle reminds me of childhood as we had it growing along one side of our backyard when I was a kid. I remember sucking the sweetness out. Thanks for the nostalgic thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I bought several chocolate mint plants recently and might try it with snippets of those. My honeysuckle in Maine isn't out yet. I bet lilacs would be nice, too! I wonder if I could make the house smell good with oregano and rosemary--like I'd been cooking!
ReplyDeleteI am sure that smells so good. I walk my daughter's dog most afternoon and there is a field of honeysuckle behind her house. It is wonderful to smell during my walk. I may have to clip some and bring it home to try this out. Thanks for sharing the idea.
