Napkin Ring Mini Succulent Pots

Happy Wednesday Friends! If you've read even a few of my posts, you know I have a hard time passing on pretty little clearance finds.  Next to the thrill of the hunt, I love the challenge of using a mark down in an unexpected way.  Today's plcf: napkin rings! Never mind that I rarely use napkin rings in the conventional sense, when I saw these I just knew they had to come home with me...

Now some might look at 3 random napkin rings and pass but I saw potential in those gorgeous gold and white designs.  Once again, I'll confess that at purchase time I had no idea how I would use them but that didn't stop me.  On my 45 minute drive home from San Antonio, I pondered...

....and realized that some of my faux succulents might be just the right size to create mini pots.

Guess what? They were--I love it when a project comes together the way I envision it!

Talk about a simple project--I didn't even glue them because they fit so perfectly resting in the opening.

Want to recreate this look?  I found the napkin rings on the home clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby, which is also where I buy the faux succulents.  They are $4.99 for several in a bundle and I use their weekly 40% off coupon because I have never seen them on sale.

  6. They do look like little pots ... so clever and love them in your tray. You are doing some fun things with the succulents. I have a live one in my no-so-well-lit bathroom and it is doing great. I thought they needed a lot of light. I have a drawer full of napkin rings ... I wonder ???? None as cute as yours with the gold designs.
