Happy Monday, Friends! If you're like me and love collecting vintage finds, today I've got some easy tips for creating charming and clutter-free focal points whether you are styling a hutch or above-the-cabinet displays.
Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! After the holidays, it takes me a little time to settle into the new year, but I'm getting there. Is it the same for you? It appears that after two and half years of posting weekly on Fridays, I'm all out of catchy titles, so from now on I'll be numbering. Can you believe today is the 128th Friday's Find? Here are this week's fab features...
Thank God it's thrifty Friday Friends! Today I am taking you on the second part of my day trip to Texas Antique week in Roundtop. I'll be sharing the rest of my treasures and a comparison of the shows I attended, as well as what I learned as a newbie. This glorious jadeite display is only the beginning...
Hello Friends! So glad you stopped by for another thrifty Friday! Today's fabulous find is from my recent trip to Denver when I went to see Dear Firstborn graduate with honors AND be honored as Outstanding Graduate in Art History! Pardon me while I brag a little--I am just so proud of her! After all of the graduation festivities, DF took me to a sweet little antique shop with great prices where I scored this pretty Vintage pitcher. It is the perfect yellow for my kitchen and don't you love it filled with Blue Sage? The inside has a milk glass look, like many Fire-King and Pyrex pieces. However, it is not marked and I have not been able to find any like it. If anyone can identify the manufacturer. Update: Vintage Hazel Atlas Platonite Creamer I sure would appreciate your feedback and as always, I would love to hear about your most recent treasures!
Greetings Friends! As much as I love collecting pretty dishes, I cannot stand clutter. With all of my recent Vintage finds, I came to the conclusion that it was time to de-clutter. I decided to give away a set of beautiful china that I rarely use. My friend said she would gladly receive it, which makes it easier to part with. Here is my cabinet before removing the gifted china and editing:
Greetings Friends! With my weekly thrifting jaunts, I have to be very careful that my bargains don't turn into clutter. It has been an ongoing challenge to organize my studio--the room where my Etsy shop and DIY supplies reside. When I recently upcycled an old dresser and gave it a place of honor showcasing my cherished family photos, I knew just the spot for the table it replaced.
Greetings Friends! When I was a little girl, I spent a lot of time at my grandmother's house. I have fond memories of sitting in her kitchen & drinking what she called "coffee milk". Today we refer to it as a latte and it is still how I prefer my coffee. Another sweet memory from Mo-maw's kitchen was her vanilla wafer layered banana pudding which she served from colorful Pyrex dishes. Still another recollection is riding with her and my Aunt Stella to Purple Heart and the Sand Dollar which were my first thrift store experiences. These trips were made that much more exciting by my Aunt Stella's reckless driving! Let's just say Aunt Stella was not the little old lady you get stuck behind and wish would speed up. More likely, she would be the one to swerve in front of you for a parking spot! Fortunately, I survived these trips unscathed. It wasn't until I had children of my own that I returned to my thrifting roots.
Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Hallelujah--the elusive dot bowl! Manufactured by Fire-King from the late 40s-60s, I had never seen them in a thrift store, and rarely in antique shops. The good news: it was a complete set of nesting bowls in red--the color I would have specifically chosen and it was a fantastic bargain!

I adore decorating and gardening but as a single parent have always needed to do both on a budget. Thrifting-- my all inclusive verb for shopping resale shops, thrift stores, estate and yard sales is not just my hobby but rather a lifestyle. It supports my habit of collecting Vintage dishes and Pyrex and over the years has proven invaluable for decorating and re-decorating. I am passionate about transforming and repurposing cast away furniture and love furnishing my home with pieces that have their own history. It has saved me more pennies than I can count and is the perfect solution to almost any dilemma. Your child comes home from school and informs you that he must dress like his favorite super hero TOMORROW? Your daughter can only wear modest knee length skirts to respect the local culture on her upcoming mission trip? Volunteer to host the next ladies event but then realize you don't own enough matching glasses? The answer to these questions and so many more: THRIFTING! Last, but certainly not least--thrifting is all about re-cycling, re-imagining and re-creating; the best way to shop green!
