Happy Monday, Friends! It's been awhile since I've shared a 15 minute fix, and today I have a simple valentine project upcycled from a recent thrift store find and crafted with a previous thrifted find...

When I picked up these unfinished heart trios for .25 each, I initially planned to paint them. You may remember the farmhouse style conversation hearts I made last year, and that's what came to my mind.

However, when I started digging thru my craft stash, I noticed one remaining scrap of the pretty pink toile drawer liner I scored three years ago.

I only paid a few dollars for an opened box of the lovely paper, and I certainly got my money's worth. I used it to transform my China cabinet shelves...

...and also to craft a banner that hangs in my creativity studio.

Since I still love both projects, I decided to use the remaining toile to upcycle the bare hearts. The drawer liner is a similar weight to scrapbook paper, so feel free to improvise with your choice of paper and pattern. Ready to make your own? First: Position the hearts to display the pattern upright featuring the desired design.

Next: Trace the hearts onto the paper and cut the hearts out.

Then: Use double-sided tape to attach the paper to the wooden hearts.

Optional: If desired, you can tie a ribbon for hanging before attaching the paper. (I chose not to because I have a different plan.) I embellished mine with X-O-X. Stay tuned--you'll be seeing these romantic toile hearts again soon!

I like your banner. Sometimes a short term project is just what I'm up for! This way, you can also make it "reversible." I'm working on Valentine and St. Patrick's Days garlands--making them is new to me!
ReplyDeleteTurned out really nice. It will be fun to see what else you do with them.
ReplyDeletewhat a very cute craft. Thanks for sharing. That is a great little accent to place in your vignette for Valentine's Day. Love it.
