15 Minute Amaryllis Repurposed Cigar Box Centerpiece Plus a Table for Two

Happy Valentine's Day, Friends! A cheerful floral centerpiece seems fitting for the occasion and since you can arrange this one in about 5 minutes, today's 15 Minute Fix also includes a simple tablescape for two...

Remember this vintage cigar box I scored last month?  Ever since I tucked a few pieces of greenery inside when I took the original photos, I've been wanting to repurpose it as a pretty centerpiece.

Lately, I've come across several online discussions regarding faux versus fresh flowers. While I prefer fresh whenever possible, there are some lovely faux options available that come in handy, especially during the winter months before garden blooms are available. These faux amaryllis flowers are one of my favorites for winter centerpieces. This chicken feeder centerpiece was one of my most popular posts a few years ago and the coloring of the amaryllis has always made me think of Valentine's Day.

These shallow glass dishes were another recent thrift store find and are the perfect depth I like to use in floral container arrangements. For fresh arrangements water can be added...

...and for faux, they serve as nice placeholders for different blooms. In addition to the amaryllis, I added some greenery, a vintage key and a wee cupid. For a simple tablescape, I layered red toile, jadeite and red transferware.

If the red toile on the table looks familiar, it's actually a curtain that was featured in my cozy Christmas bedroom in 2016. I love repurposing my vintage linens and this one works nicely as a tablecloth. Notice the retro red cups I shared last Friday?

  1. Very nice - I love scoring those wooden cigar boxes. Love your little kitchen vignette with the truck - very festive. I'm sad to see Valentine's Day leave because I love the decorations. I think I'll leave them up inside at least for another few days!

  2. So pretty, Cecilia! Love the red mugs and "tablecloth". Funny, I have a black and white toile on my table - it's from a duvet cover. It had a small tear on one side so I cut it apart and have a beautiful tablecloth! I love how you are always featuring upcycled items! Very inspiring.

  6. Gorgeous as usual! I love the red toile dishes and tablecloth! As a dollhouse person, I see a cigar box as a potential roombox; never would have thought to use it for flowers...learning how to think outside (or inside!) the box is taking me some time. Once I cut the buttonholed edge off a heavy shower curtain for a lovely tablecloth and cut up a sheer shower curtain with violets to make gift bags with pearl ties and lavender tissue paper; they were gorgeous! Funny how easy it is for me to do with cloth but not some of the other objects!
