15 Minute Upcycled Vintage Plate Sign

Happy Wednesday, Friends! It's time for another 15 Minute Fix and once again, this project can easily be completed in closer to five minutes. Plus, it's oh-so thrifty and all you need is a plate and a dollar store decal!

You may remember several months ago when I upcycled a tacky thrift store sign with a dollar store decal. It was a super simple project and I've enjoyed it hanging next to my front door

So...when I found this decal over the summer, I grabbed it and set it aside with plans for a fall project. Since then, as is bound to happen at times, the same decal has made its way around quite a few blogs--all lovely projects.

I have a fondness for decorating with vintage plates, like this one I repurposed as a chalkboard. I scored this large vintage ironstone plate at a yard sale last spring and it's the perfect size for a decorative sign. Thrift stores are a great place to find vintage plates. Just make sure the plate you choose is large enough for the decal to fit. Clean the plate thoroughly....

...and carefully apply the decal. Press it down gently to remove any bubbles.

Since the transparent decal is on a plate that will only be used for decorative purposes, it doesn't need decoupage or any other sealant that could leave a clear film. Add a plate hanger to hang on a gallery wall or if you prefer, display it on an easel.
