DIY Hammered Copper Charger Plates and Stemware

Hi there, Friends! When I posted my recent fall tablescape, I promised to share how to make these DIY hammered copper charger plates. Though not included with the tablescape, I also used the same upcycle on some of my stemware. This simple technique is the perfect way to dress up thrift store dishes and create your own festive fall tablescapes...

Ready to learn my "technique" and create your own? First, buy a can of Rust-oleum Hammered Copper spray paint. Be sure to grab the hammered variety, the top will have a textured appearance as opposed to the other metallics with shiny smooth lids.

In my DIY excitement, I forgot to get a before photo of the chargers, but here's the before of my stemware. To protect the glass, wrap a plastic bag around the top of the glasses and secure with painter's tape, wrapping the stems so that only the bottom portion is uncovered. You'll notice these bottoms were previously painted with chalkboard paint which is also fun, because they can be labeled with the names of your guests. These are not intended for the dishwasher but you can see that by hand washing them, the paint has held up well since I painted them four years ago. {See how to paint chalkboard stemware here!}

...and a closer look. I love the elegant hammered finish. Bam--technique in a can!

When I make caprese salad on a stick, I use fresh rosemary sprigs as skewers. {Look here for fresh organic rosemary!}

They make such pretty and refreshing appetizers. {See how to make rosemary caprese appetizers here!}

Think about the lovelies you can create for the cost of a can of spray paint!  Everything tastes just a little better when served from a pretty dish or glass--don't you think?
