Just Add Rosemary! Evergreen Vintage Tablescape, Mini Wreaths and Chandelier Swag

Hi there, Friends! As promised, today I'm sharing a simple Christmas tablescape inspired by nature and featuring vintage dishes and miniature wreaths plus my latest chandelier swag...

Though my vintage Friendly Village dishes are displayed year round, it was a festive Christmas tablescape I envisioned when I scored them at a yard sale earlier this year. The picturesque snowy outdoor scene lends itself to a nature inspired tablescape.

So I decided to feature my own garden evergreen--fragrant rosemary! I started by gathering a basket full, rinsing it thoroughly and then placing it in water for several hours before arranging any of it. Tip: Remove the leaves from the bottom of the sprigs and stand in vases of water, as you would with fresh flowers.

This Swedish teak tray was a previous find and perfect for a simple centerpiece.

First, I arranged my clearance LED candles, and then I filled in with rosemary sprigs--that's it! Let me just say, it smells ah-mazing!

This year, I challenged myself to arrange my decorations in different ways and also to use what I already have. After shopping my home, I came up with two previously purchased clearance Christmas placemats to form a table runner.

To create the mini wreaths, work with fresh sprigs. Once the wreaths are formed, they will dry nicely and still retain most of the green color and scent.

Simply bring both ends together in a circle, wrap twice and double tie with your choice of twine, ribbon or raffia. You'll notice I used raffia and a simple knot. You could also add ribbon, or names for place cards, or make them even smaller for napkin rings.

Y'all know how I love to dress up my chandy--I've shared it shimmering with ornaments and adorned with whimsical teacups. For the holidays, it's also decked out in rosemary.

Of course, I kept some of the whimsical accents like the pearls, vintage spoons and key, plus I added a miniature chandelier ornament in the center. Mercury glass ornaments and vintage bottles were also attached with ribbon. The added sparkle really is merry and bright!

Need fresh rosemary to create your own mini wreaths, centerpiece or chandy swag? I have plenty available and it's currently on sale!

Since I have the habit of photographing my chandy with a dining room view, I thought you would enjoy seeing it facing the living room.

  2. I love it Cecilia! I can just smell the delightful fragrance of the rosemary! You know how much I love the Friendly Village plates - you showcased them perfectly! My favorite touch? The mini chandelier on your big one! That is too cute! All the sparkle pops against the backdrop of your living room! I'm loving that view. :-)

  4. I love simple! Just wishing we could grow rosemary in the ground way up here in NY. I've managed to keep one pot of it growing inside, but I dare not cut too much or it will look silly. I guess I'll have to buy some to use for decorating purposes :) Lovely job--

  7. This is so attractive Cecilia! I enjoyed your décor. I used to have rosemary in the yard...so fragrant, but it died a couple of years ago. I need to put in some more. Love the way you have used it with your decorations to enhance them. Love the idea of making a tablerunner out of placemats! An idea I never thought of.

  8. Hi Cecilia ... smart move to use the rosemary. Good ideas and everything looks so lovely. Love the simple garland in the chandelier and the tiny wreaths. I put some cuttings in vases last year and it stayed fresh for a long time ... it actually rooted and grew. Thanks for the ideas ... I need to cut some to bring in the house. Less mess than fresh greenery.
    Happy Christmas.
    Hugs,
    Audrey Z.
