Get the Look: Pier One Chalkboard Knock Off

Happy Wednesday, Friends! A few months ago, while shopping for a friend who wanted to add some cozy touches to her living room apartment, I came across this fun faux chalkboard at Pier One.  I was inspired to create my own version and I knew I could beat their $50 price tag!

I found this fabulous frame at a thrift store for $2! I started by painting it with chalk paint.  The chalkboard decals were Target clearance; several were in the package for less than $2. I decided to use cardboard for the faux chalkboard--I just painted it with chalkboard paint.  Once it was dried, I added the decal.

Take a peek at my inspiration next to the finished project.  I like my price better--don't you?

  3. I love yours. Chalk board paint is so fun to work with. Do you always have to use wood for the bottom? Could you paint like cardboard or something hard? Jo
