Happy Wednesday, Friends! A few months ago, while shopping for a friend who wanted to add some cozy touches to her living room apartment, I came across this fun faux chalkboard at Pier One. I was inspired to create my own version and I knew I could beat their $50 price tag!
I found this fabulous frame at a thrift store for $2! I started by painting it with chalk paint. The chalkboard decals were Target clearance; several were in the package for less than $2. I decided to use cardboard for the faux chalkboard--I just painted it with chalkboard paint. Once it was dried, I added the decal.
Take a peek at my inspiration next to the finished project. I like my price better--don't you?
If you prefer an actual chalkboard, here's another upcycle using chalk fabric, cardboard and a thrift store frame. See more here.
Hope you are inspired to create something thrifty :)
MY HEARTFELT THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING FOR FEATURING THIS POST:

Great job Cecilia ... love both projects and the decals. Have not seen chalk fabric. That would be fun to work with.

I love yours. Chalk board paint is so fun to work with. Do you always have to use wood for the bottom? Could you paint like cardboard or something hard? Jo
ReplyDeleteWay cool! I love it when you find something then can turn around and recreate it tons cheaper! Yours looks great. Love your frame. :)
