Vintage Thanksgiving Breakfast Table

Happy Tuesday, Friends! Today I'm delighted to join over 20 bloggers hosted by sweet Rita at Panoply for the Thanksgiving Tablescape Hop. I'm sharing a festive vintage breakfast table featuring homemade sweet potato bread to start the holiday feasting...

If you've hopped over after visiting Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate, welcome! For my place settings, I layered vintage dishes from my collection: Friendly Village (yard sale find) and jadeite (estate sale score.)

decorated the table with homemade dried oranges, lamb's ear, eucalyptus, and DIY succulent pumpkins. Copper flatware complements the soft color palette.

When it comes to Thanksgiving, are you an all day nibbler or do you fast until the big meal? (I tend to lean toward the former!)

You can whip up this yummy sweet bread ahead of time to serve guests for breakfast or nibblers wandering into the kitchen during meal preparations.

Candlelight instantly creates a festive mood!

I like to use cake stands to add height to simple centerpieces.

  1. Green is my favorite color, so I was drawn to your table immediately! I like your idea of using a cake stand as a centerpiece - and the bread looks delish! What a warm and welcoming table! Have a wonderful Thankksgiving.

  3. You come across some pretty good finds at the sales you go to! "Friendly Village" is not one of those I've often seen at ANY kind of sale here in the Kansas City, MO area! It looks good with your jadeite! I really, really like that lamb's ear in the centerpiece. I thought it was sage at first. The color is so soft, and the velvety texture adds so much. I've never heard of sweet potato bread, but I imagine it would taste really good just as sweet potato pie does. My husband is a nibbler and I'm a "gimme a big ol' plate and let's get this party started" kinda gal, so I do my best to accommodate both during the holidays! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!

  4. Cecilia you are a thrift store guru and I always forget to shop them for popular pieces. Love your Jadeite. Unfortunately, my Jadeite has been purchased 'new' and when I think of the money I could have saved....$$$$$$$.
Estate sales are few and far between here in Florida, usually people have had their "sales" etc, up north before venturing south so as to not bring too much "stuff" to their retirement or forever homes. LOL
A beautifully appointed Thanksgiving table and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.

  6. So pretty! I have dreams of finding Friendly Village pieces at yard sales or thrift shops. Maybe one day! And the jadeite (another favorite of mine) looks wonderful with it. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

  7. Cecilia, I've always loved The Friendly Village dishes and their mossy green/brown colors. Every once in a while a few plates will pop up at thrift stores. Even collecting a few at a time would be a good idea. Your use of the cake plate for a risers is a good way to get height, and yummy food in the form of delish tea breads caught my attention :)
    Have a very blessed Thanksgiving!

  8. Cecilia, I love how the colors of the Friendly Village dishes work with your green Jadeite. So clever to use succulents in your centerpiece! Here in Pittsburgh, it would have never occurred to me. That’s one of the great things about hops — so much shared inspiration, ideas and tips. Always impressed by your vintage finds and enjoy seeing them.

  16. Cecilia, When I saw your pretty Friendly Village plate I immediately thought of the old childhood song, Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go.....

  19. A perfect way to kick off the 6Thanksgiving holiday, with Friendly Village, a sweet bread, and perhaps a little parade watching.😉 Your table is a testament to your Thrift Store Addiction. Thank you for highlighting that aspect in procuring table elements and for putting it together so readers can see its benefits, Cecilia. Happy Thanksgiving!

  20. Cecilia, I love how you mixed your jadite round green plates with the square pattern plates. What a nice contrast in shape and color. The stripe napkins are a great choice. The pumpkins with succulents do bring in a nice element of green. Happy Thanksgiving.

  21. Cecilia, You really displayed your Friendly Village plates in an exquisite way. I love this pattern and had always hoped to collect the entire set myself, but it would take my storage over the limit. (If it isn't already.) I love how you make it stand out with your use of the soft, gentle color of green jadeite. So pretty with the succulents too. Happy Thanksgiving!

  22. I always enjoy your tables and vignettes that use jadeite pieces -- they seem to glow. The greens of lamb's ear and eucalyptus are comfortably compatible with the jadeite. Together they create a cozy setting for breakfast or snacking. Thoroughly charming! Have a beautiful fall weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I always enjoy seeing how you use your pretty jadeite dishes and your Friendly Village plates remind me of "over the river and through the woods", perfect for this season! Happy Thanksgiving!

  24. Cecilia, I recently acquired my MIL's large set of Friendly Village china after she moved into Assisted Living. We'll be using it at our Thanksgiving dinner this year. I love how you paired yours with jadeite. Your Thanksgiving breakfast in the kitchen looks so cozy! I tend to nibble all day on Thanksgiving. We nosh on leftovers right up until bedtime lol! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family :)
