Happy Monday, Friends! Have you noticed all the fall decorations in the stores? It can be fun to splurge on new seasonal decor or anticipate cooler weather, but today I'm hosting a small group of friends and we're celebrating our late summer blooms and floral decor. Join us for a little "flower power!" inspiration...
Personally, I truly find fresh flowers to be an instant pick-me-up--whether it's strolling past a profusion of vibrant morning glories, inhaling the scent of a delicate rose, or arranging small bouquets for my home. Do you agree?
In that spirit, several friends and I are sharing the late summer florals that inspire us today! If you're new here--welcome!
I hope you enjoy seeing what's blooming now in my Texas hill country garden and some of my recent garden-related projects like this yard sale stool upcycle. You'll find a lot of vinca in my summer container plants because it survives the scorching temperatures and keeps on blooming!
Golden lantana is a native perennial and with our wetter than usual summer, it has really thrived!
Here's a pastel variety of lantana and two more Texas native perennials: Blackfoot daisy and rock rose.
I plant zinnia seeds every year.
Thanks to the abundance of early summer rains...
...the colors have been absolutely gorgeous this year!
I have thoroughly enjoyed cutting and arranging them each week.
In May 2020, I had severe hail and wind damage that uprooted six trees--one of them was in this very place. It has been a long tedious clearing and clean up process, and you can read more about my spring garden update, here. Since then, this cozy spot has become one of my favorite places to hang out...
...or stop and smell the roses!
Texas is known for its hard, rocky soil and fortunately, morning glories thrive in poor soil. You can see how much this container plant has grown since May from the photo on the left. {See how to create this copper rimmed flowerpot, here.}
Here, what started as a "stray seed" became a living wall of the colorful vine! {Psst! My morning glory seeds are on sale now while supplies last!}
I adore crepe myrtle blooms.
I plan to use my sunflowers in my fall decor this year. Look closely to see a camouflaged pollinator!

Aren't the pumpkin blossoms pretty? Hopefully, I'll be seeing some baby pumpkins soon!
Thanks so much for stopping by--I hope sharing my flower power brought a little cheer to your day! Next up is my creative friend CoCo from The Crowned Goat! Enjoy visiting the rest of the talented bloggers, below:
Thanks for hosting this pretty hop, Cecelia! I'm having fun peeking at everyone's flowers! Your zinnias are lovely. I think they are my absolute favorite summer bloom. Ours are getting ready to pop now, too!! Finally!!
ReplyDeleteYou have so many beautiful things growing in your garden, Cecilia! I love the way you put all the different combinations together and your zinnias are amazing too. I don't think I've ever seen them with such a deep color before. They're gorgeous! Thanks so much for putting this blog hop together. It's the perfect late summer pick me up! Big hugs, CoCo
ReplyDeleteYour perennial lantana is amazing!! We live in SW Missouri where the temps can be very cold for extended lengths of time, but I'm tempted to try to plant some just to see if they'd make it. I love all your wonderful plants and color and those zinnias are just so sweet and happy... perfect bloom for your adorable green arrangement. Thanks again for inviting me to join in on the fun today. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this blog hop, Cecilia! I enjoyed seeing everything that you have blooming right now. Our climate is very similar so we have a lot of the same things growing! I have just about given up on roses, though, except for the hardy ones.
ReplyDeleteYour green thumb always amazes me, Cecilia! I WISH my morning glory vine looked like yours! (It's rather sad these days, actually.) It's fun learning about all the different varieties of plants that you grow -- it gives me inspiration! Thanks for hosting this fun hop! xo Katheen
ReplyDeleteCecilia,
ReplyDeleteYour Sumner garden is bright with color. I enjoy seeing your Zinnia bouquets
Cecilia, your garden looks beautiful this year!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing all of your flowers. Some of your pictures should grace notecards; I admire your photography! I had to smile when I saw your pumpkin blossom. As a child, a friend picked ALL of his mother's squash blossoms and proudly presented her with the bouquet. She was dismayed but had to accept them gracefully!
ReplyDeleteYour August garden is beautiful I love Lantana. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteLove all your late summer flower power! I wish Lantana was a perennial here.
ReplyDeleteAll the bright colors in your garden are so pretty along with your creative garden accents.
