Hi there, Friends! Have you ever ordered a rug online only to receive it with creases? During Amazon's Prime Day sale a few months ago, I got a great price on a hand woven jute rug. I had been looking for some time for a 6 ft round one in my price range, so I was thrilled. Unfortunately, it was shipped folded and arrived with a noticeable crease down the center...
Previously, most round rugs I've seen have been 5 ft, but I needed 6 ft to accommodate the breakfast table in my kitchen, so I decided to try to remove the crease myself instead of returning it. It took me a few tries and a little time, but I found a solution. Here's the before and after:
First, I tried using weight to relax the crease, placing heavy yearbooks across it. I left them for several days...
...but despite what I read, it didn't help much at all!
What did work was pressing the crease with an iron. Note: Since jute may be more durable than some rug fabrics, please exercise caution before applying heat to your rug.
I recommend using the iron's dry setting and a spray bottle of water to mist the crease before pressing it in sections 5 seconds at a time. Also, you may need to repeat the process a few times. I did, and it worked!

Cecelia,
ReplyDeleteI adore your table and chairs in your Kitchen..In my last post, I shared some pics of how my Kitchen looked in 1978 when we bought our townhouse. I had a little bistro table and chair set in the Kitchen originally and I loved it but after I had the boys, I needed something different...Sigh....
The rug looks great and I love the items you have above your Kitchen cabinets....
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Hugs
Debbie
