Clearance Sign Upcycle: Friday's Find #321

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! This week I have a single find to share plus I'll show you how I gave it a simple upcycle...

I found this sign on clearance at Big Lots and it was an additional 20% off during their New Year's Day sale. To be honest, if I were to hang it anywhere else in my house, I probably would have left it as is. BUT...since I wanted to hang it in my very whitewashed bedroom, the stained wood stood out like a sore thumb.

I received this paint as a member of the DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program. See full disclosure here.

Originally, I planned to whitewash the outer portion of the frame, but when I went to get my paint, I remembered that I had this Vintage Effect Wash and decided to use it instead.

I applied it with a sponge brush, and I like how it picks up the color of Stay Home.

Voila! I hung it above the doorway in my bedroom.

Join me on Tuesday, to see the rest of my cozy winter bedroom

  1. Very nice. The turquoisey color is so "in" and really makes you focus on the picture much more than the plain brown frame! Last night I dreamed that I bought a wooden basket that I planned to paint an off-white--this DIY is going TOOOO far! LOL!
