How to Style a Calm and Cozy Winter Bedroom

Happy Tuesday, Friends! There is just something about winter that makes me want to hibernate and surround myself with soothing accents to beat the seasonal blues. Can you relate? Today I'm sharing simple tips to create a calm and cozy bedroom...

Layer Comfy Bedding and Cozy Textures

Occasionally I come across bedding at thrift stores, but more often, I find it at estate and yard sales.  I found the blush chenille blanket at a yard sale, and most of my vintage pillowcases are from estate sales.

I typically use a lot of vintage linens on side tables and trays, but this winter I used a soft, fluffy infinity scarf on my nightstand tray. I always keep something to read and a journal close to my bed, too.

Add Fresh Flowers and Greenery for a Calming Effect

I'm still enjoying my fresh holiday evergreens, and I added some white chrysanthemums. I've noticed they stay fresh longer than many grocery store bouquets, and I love the light fresh scent. The lamb's ear garland hangs above my window year round. I snapped this shot just as the morning light was streaming in the window. {See how to make my DIY pom-pom throw, here!}

Personalize the Room with Warm Lighting, Comforting Touches, and Aromatherapy

A vintage pink depression glass teacup with a tealight candle creates soft romantic lighting, and the cherished cross-stitch is a gift that Dear Firstborn made when she was just a teenager. Of course, I need some comfy slippers and...

...I like to use both dried lavender as well as lavender essential oil in the diffuser for a naturally fragrant room. Favorite Son gave me this large essential oil diffuser for my birthday, and I absolutely love it! {You can find the link for it at the bottom of the post.}

On Friday, I shared how I upcycled this clearance sign,  and it's just the right sentiment for hibernating! Pom-pom garland and dried eucalyptus elevate it another notch.

Display Vintage Treasures in Unexpected Ways

You've probably noticed that I try to do this all over my house. In the bedroom, a vintage embroidered bag with a lace-trimmed hankie makes the perfect place to hang more lavender.

Thanks for stopping by! Coco at the Crowned Goat is next on the tour, and I can't wait to see her charming winter nesting ideas!  Be sure to visit the other homes on the tour below!

  9. I, too, felt calmer looking at all your lovely touches. I could almost smell the lavendar! Then reality set in. My 15# cat (down from 17.5!) would push over everything on the nightstand so he could nest on that gorgeous infinitey scarf; there goes the flowers. The other cat would have a field day with the pom poms--anything that has a possibility of moving! I honestly love thrifted stuff more than new things (except maybe for repro Jadeite) and prefer a flea market/antique place/thrift store to a big box store ('cept for clearance!).
