Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Last weekend I drove to Mason, Texas for Sweet Pickins Vintage Fair. I have some wonderful photos to share from my adventure and I found a few treasures too. Come along for my fabulous finds and your vintage fix of the day...

Mason is a tiny gem of a town in the Texas Hill Country, a little over forty miles north of Fredericksburg, which makes it just over an hour from me, in Kerrville. When I visited for the first time several years ago, I was smitten, especially with the charming shop Lilacs-N-Calico & Co. owned by Jennifer Hitzfelder. This year, with assistance from local artisans, Jennifer organized the first Sweet Pickins Vintage Fair.
Pretty vintage ice cream parlor table set from Sisters Treasures. |
Josh Foster crafted this repurposed table. He's one of the talented vendors who sells from Jennifer's shop.
These beautiful beds had me swooning and how cute is that little round train case! (Cason's Mercantile)
I know many of you will be charmed by this sweet cow painting, pictured with local artist, Michael Pryor from Vintage Republic.
The next three photos are all from The Garden Shed's booth. I'm sure you can tell why I'm drawn to their lovely creations!
I featured them last spring after seeing them at the Lavender Festival.
Aren't the mini wreaths inside the lanterns charming?
Love the contrast of these fabulous green shutters and the cheerful red chair. (Flutter Buys)
Check out these unique lights with a steampunk vibe. Great name, too!
It wouldn't be a vintage market without some rusty, crusty garden tools--look at that pitchfork! (Vintage Vibes)
Isn't this pink tub divine? I would love it in my garden, filled with herbs and flowers! (Flutter Buys)
Mason is known for its town square and it's certainly worth the short drive if you make the trip to Fredericksburg. After visiting the shops on the square, be sure to stop by Cherokee Rose Antiques and Books. The building is a historical landmark and the owner Carolyn is a sweet lady--tell her Cecilia sent you ;) These lovely vintage blue bottles are just one of several of her available collections.
It was a quite a treat to take in all of the gorgeous eye candy. Since I DIY and thrift shop so often, I'm very selective about what I purchase at market venues and this year I've resolved to sell more and keep less. However, I did come home with a few treasures. How could I resist this sweet vintage doe and fawn planter? I found it at Jennifer's booth and though not marked, she agreed that it looks like it was made in Japan around the 50s. If anyone has more information, please leave me a comment!
My other find has been on my list since November, when I scored a vintage chandy that I'm giving a mini makeover. I found these crystal prisms at Red Baron Antique Mall, one of my favorite stops in Fredericksburg, on my way back home. Stay tuned for the results!
I hope you enjoyed the trip ;)
Until next time, happy hunting!
