Hello, Friends! Spring has sprung, here in Texas! I hope it's nice weather at your house, but if not, maybe today's post will brighten your day. I'm sharing kitchen vignettes featuring my vintage jadeite and some other springtime favorites...
You may have seen these sweet little Sofie Bunny plates from Pier One. I fell in love with them several years ago and have previously featured them in a few spring tablescapes. They've been quite popular among bloggers and I always smile when I see them around.
When I first began collecting jadeite, I really wanted to make the collection the focal point of my kitchen. Though I had previously never considered painting the room yellow, I chose the sunny shade specifically to highlight the pretty green dishes. This wall faces my backdoor and sunlight streams in during different times of the day, giving the space a cheerful glow. After less daylight during the winter months, this is especially evident in spring.
Lady Banks roses are always one of the first to bloom in my garden. I love filling the sugar bowl and creamer with garden flowers. It's funny how close the color of the miniature rose is to my wall shade.
During one of my recent Facetime chats with Ginger Grand, he wanted to count all of the bunnies I've brought out for spring. Of course I turned the phone camera around and let him count to his heart's content. Between the kitchen, living and dining rooms, he counted 20 which he thought was hilarious! My new bunny pillow was his favorite and was also the only new bunny I've bought in years--thrift store bunnies don't count, right? So...anticipating our next chat, I created this fun vignette. He loves the old Peter Rabbit stories and was infatuated by the real bunny he saw in my garden last summer.
I found the pair of gardening bunnies 90% off after Easter several years ago. The gardener looks a bit like Peter Rabbit who grew up and exchanged his blue jacket for blue overalls ;) He's busy harvesting cabbage and carrots...
...while Momma bunny tends to the little one I shared Friday. Thinking maybe these bunnies started their own farm instead of crashing McGregor's, I created a sign complete with a pom pom cottontail garland.

I can't wait to hear Ginger Grand giggle when he reads the sign and sees the "tails."
Be sure to stop by Tuesday for the Vintage Easter Joys blog hop! Some of my favorite bloggers are sharing vintage Easter inspiration on both Tuesday and Wednesday, then Friday we'll celebrate the joys of Easter with a link party. I hope you'll plan to join us!
See you Tuesday!

Your Jadeite is so pretty and adorable with the bunny plates. I have my few bunnies out and they do make me happy but I keep saying no more...you know how they can multiply!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun and whimsical vignette. Where did you get the white metal shelf your jadeite and bunny plates are on? I love it! Also, did you make your Fresh Flowers sign? It fits perfectly with your decor.
