Hi there, Friends! It's starting to feel like spring here in Texas and I've been working on some fresh floral accents. This project is for my kindred spirits out there who agree there's no such thing as too many flowers! These blooming peony placemats will make your home feel like spring inside, even if you're still knee deep in snow outside and you can craft them with thrifty dollar store flowers...
Here's what you'll need:
- Round placemats
- 4 stems of dollar store peonies per placemat
- Hot glue gun
Ready to make your own? Remove the flowers from the stems and hot glue them around the outer edge of the placemat first. I used a dinner plate in the center as a guide.
Dollar tree has two shades of peonies, that I think of as blush and bashful thanks to my many, many viewings of Steel Magnolias. I alternated the two colors to mimic the natural hues of fresh flowers. Once the outer edge of the placemat is covered, take some of the remaining blooms apart and glue the petals in the center. This will create a flatter surface for the plate to rest on and will also make the flowers go further. Here's how mine looked before I finished covering the center...

...and here it is after. Now I'd like to congratulate the Country Sampler Spring Giveaway winners: Kathy, Margy and Carole, who have all been notified. Ladies, make sure to email me your address so I can ship your magazine and thanks again to Country Sampler Magazines!
I'll be sharing more of my blush and jadeite tablescape next week, when I'll be participating in the Spring Home Tour on Tuesday. More information on that coming soon, but first I have another spring craft to share with you on Sunday!
