5 Minute Fall Minnow Bucket Using Dollar Store Supplies

Happy Wednesday, Friends! If you're like me and consider a timeworn minnow bucket to be a thing of beauty, I've got just the project for you! Even better, you can make one too and it only takes about five minutes...

It's true--even though I've included this project in the 15 Minute Fix category, it only takes a few minutes to assemble. First, you'll need some fall foliage or floral stems from the dollar store. I used three faux pomegranate stems.

Then of course, you'll need a minnow bucket. When I found this one several years ago, it was at a crowded yard sale with a long line. It didn't have a price tag and when I inquired, the frazzled lady hosting the sale replied, "Oh you can have that old thing for fifty cents." My excitement must have been obvious to her husband who was watching with amusement and asked if I knew what it was. I smiled and answered that I did, but I wouldn't be going fishing with it ;) Since then, I've used it a variety of ways in the garden.

To center and help hold the stems in place, place a smaller container inside the bucket.

Then simply arrange the stems and if desired, add a decorative accent similar to the metal crow I used. Voila--that's all there is to it!

  1. Good morning Cecilia! That is a great way to use the old minnow bucket! I have my grandfather's- I need to pull it out and clean it then use it in my decorating! Thanks for the idea!

  7. What a lovely pop of color! I never realized those "berries" were supposed to be pomegranates! Never seen a real minnow bucket. I use all kinds of containers for arrangements; my favorite being lidless vintage sugar bowls and teapots! I upcycle chunks of Styrofoam that I cut with my big serrated knife, (rather than buy floral foam) sometimes glue it in position, cover top with glue, cover with moss, and stick in stems! I think you can remove the crow, add a bit of "evergreens" and call it Christmas!
