Soothing Spa Like Self-Care Essentials for Winter

Happy Wednesday, Friends! The winter months can be hard on the skin and the psyche. For most of us, a charming retreat getaway or day at the spa is a rare occurrence, but that doesn't mean we can't pamper ourselves at home. A little self-care goes a long way in lifting the spirit if you're prone to the winter blahs...

What's more relaxing than a hot bubble bath? Epsom salts and a few drops of your favorite essential oil are another soothing option.

Light a candle, and soak away! I'm partial to lavender--what's your favorite aromatherapy scent?

This is my all time favorite lavender lotion and I've tried quite a few. It's made with essential oil and smells heavenly! I use it daily and this 32 oz size is really economical.

Another product I use everyday--these wipes remove all of your makeup without drying your skin and they smell great too.

Ahh, the miracles of coconut oil! I am constantly reading about new ways to use it--seriously, just search it on Pinterest. Two of my favorite uses: I use it like a mouthwash for sensitive gums. I also rub it on my feet before going to sleep at night. Obviously, your feet will be slippery at first, so wear cozy socks after you apply it.

Y'all know I love essential oils. Over the summer, I started using rosemary essential oil for healthier hair. Rosemary oil is also good for relieving muscle aches. It should be mixed with a carrier oil....

....like jojoba oil which also promotes healthy hair and skin.

I mix the two oils in a rollerball bottle by filling the bottle 3/4 full with jojoba then adding 5-6 drops of rosemary. I use it to massage my scalp and hair for 30 minutes or more before shampooing. Check out my essential oils board to find out the best oils for your health and wellness needs plus many more rollerball bottle blends!

Like the lotion and shower gel, Avalon Organics shampoo and conditioner is made with essential oils and comes in several scents and choices for your hair type. This one is biotin and b-complex rich which is great for thickening limp or thinning hair.

Oil of Oregano supports a healthy immune system and I take the capsules daily during cold and flu season.  I decided to try it after having a negative reaction to a flu shot a few years ago and it's worked well for me.

  6. I so miss my soaker tub at the old house and the hot tub! I do not have that here. With this snow I wish I had one or the other!

  7. My hands have been so dry because I have them in water constantly. Don't ask me why? lol! I have been having tiny cracks by my nails that kill. Super glue does the trick. I have been applying Vaseline to them and my feet. I'm going to try coconut oil. May be even better! I use a lavender bubble bath that I love.
    hugs,
    Jann
