Greetings Friends, hope you are having a lovely weekend! Last week I shared the first part of our mother-daughter stay at the charming Bide-A-While Retreat. If you missed it, look here for a delightful virutal getaway. Today I'm sharing one of my favorite features of the retreat. What could be more inviting than a little chapel in the woods?
During our visit, I had the recurring thought that every detail had been thoughtfully attended to and perhaps this was most evident in this tiny tabernacle. Look at this magnificent hand painted mural--what a treasure!
St. Francis, known as the patron saint of animals with a nest of doves.
The artist and owner, Sue created this poignant version of The Four Fold Franciscan Blessing in beautiful calligraphy . I've read other blessings by St. Francis before, but had not seen this one which brought tears to my eyes. The words are a little hard to read from the photo, but no worries...
...Sue gave us each a copy, so I created an easier to read graphic. I hope it inspires you. I found it both comforting and challenging but love it more with each reading!
Here's several more views of this enchanted property. A wisteria laden pergola is just behind the main house.
A comfy hammock hangs in the screened in portion of the bird watching deck overlooking the bayou.
A lovely vine covered arch at the entrance/exit welcomes new guests and bids farewell to refreshed departing ones. I hope you enjoyed our little getaway!

Laze about in the hammock with a good book, have tea in the pergola or go for a walk? What to decide? It is all so beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful spot for sure! I love the painted wall in the chapel. Seems like you could study the details there for awhile. I'm glad you and your daughter got to do this. Reading about times like this makes me realize that I should have had a daughter....maybe I'll get a DIL one of these days.
