Greetings Friends! I hope you've had a relaxing weekend. I've had a wonderful week celebrating the gift of friendship! It began when Cecilia, from The B Farm came to visit. Here we are enjoying dinner at Rails, a restored 1915 train depot with delicious food.
I met Cecilia a little over a year ago, through blogging. We discovered we have much in common besides our name and age and made plans to get together. Our birthdays are just a few weeks apart, so we celebrated together. Cecilia is a talented artist and I was thrilled that she painted this pretty little canvas for me!
It's perfect in my living room and is just one of the thoughtful gifts she gave me--I'll be sharing more on the others soon. Check out her beautiful work here!
Cecilia opens my gift to her--organic herbs from my garden.
The next day we made the rounds to my favorite thrift stores. You can see Cecilia's finds here. I'll be sharing mine on Friday. Cecilia was smitten with this gorgeous piece from Finds.
It was an unusual piece; a compact chest with shallow drawers in mint condition. We hadn't seen anything similar before. Any ideas on its original function?
Audrey, from Timeless Treasures thought it may have been a jewelry maker's chest. Audrey and I live in the same city so she met us for lunch--Blogging Besties!
After lunch, Cecilia and I drove over to Comfort, a nearby small town known for its antiques. These adorable pugs at Blackbird Antiques have their own beds and actually jumped on to pose as their owner, Karen instructed!
These pups also have their own living room,
complete with an art gallery and piano!
On Friday, my sweet friend Carly and I spent the day shopping in San Antonio. Since she is a retail manager, and the mother of an eight year old getting away for the day is a rare treat! We met Dianne who treated us to a celebratory lunch at Cheesecake Factory. Dianne and I have been friends for over twenty years! She mentored me through one of the most difficult seasons in my life. We have remained close friend ever since and I dedicated my book to her.
The perfect end to our delightful lunch--Godiva chocolate cheesecake!
Thank you to all of my friends for your gift of friendship and for making my birthday special! Remember, there's still time to link your vintage and repurposed posts at the Vintage Charm party!
MY HEARTFELT THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING FOR FEATURING THIS POST:
What great times, celebrating YOU and friends, Cecilia. First of all, Happy Birthday to you! I love how you spent your time with friends, leisurely shopping and just enjoying each other with food and conversation.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the chest looks to be a jeweler's (or watchmaker's chest), or it could even be a chest from a dentist's office. Beautiful piece.
Rita
Happy Birthday, what a wonderful way to celebrate! :)
ReplyDeleteCecilia ... so happy I got to enjoy a little part of your birthday celebration with you and Cecilia B. (the other Cecilia). Thank you for including me. I remember the time I got your email addresses mixed up and sent her an email meant for you. She was kind enough to let me know and signed it "the other Cecilia". I was a little embarrassed but she was very understanding. Meeting Cecilia B. was a special treat too as I have been following her Blog for a long time and I love her paintings.
