Give Your Christmas Decor Luxe Texture with Velvet Ribbon

Happy Monday, Friends! Do you enjoy changing up your Christmas decor each year? Maybe you like to experiment with colors or add a new accent. This year, I have been drawn to simple elegance and the luxe texture of velvet ribbon.  Check out these quick ways I used velvet ribbon to complement my Christmas decor...

Above, I had a piece left from my first spool of ribbon that was just the right size to thread through my large vintage mirror over the sofa. A small sprig of greenery in the center was the perfect accent, and I am loving the look. This is my first year to decorate the ugly duckling dresser that I repurposed as a buffet for the holidays, and I have enjoyed styling the long piece of furniture. The burlap-wrapped "snowy" tree is one of three nearly naked trees I have displayed this year. It's on the left side of buffet. The song lyric sign  is new--60% off at Michael's!

After using a lovely blush shade of velvet ribbon to hang a wreath on each side of the buffet,  I was so smitten that I ordered several more spools from Hobby Lobby.  My small town has finally built a local store, but it won't open until the end of the month. Fortunately, the pretty ribbon was on sale. If you buy it in the store, don't forget to grab the 40% off coupon online. If you don't have a store near you, I have included links near the end of the post for some different colors of velvet ribbon.

Remember this sweet Putz house scene that I scored for .25? The church was missing the steeple and I found the perfect church ornament as a replacement at Ross for $3.99, so my pretty upcycle was still under $5. You can see bits of the velvet ribbon peeking out from the garland.

My faux mercury glass lights were a clearance find from the garden section several years ago. I paired them with just a few vintage ornaments to keep it simple.

More mercury glass, some dried eucalyptus, and a cloched house are on the right side of the buffet.

Of course I had to drape some ribbon from my chandy!

  3. I love the pastels--especially the vintage bulbs! With cats, I couldn't do that one! They love bouncing the unbreakable bulbs that I put at the bottom of my tree down the cellar stairs in the middle of the night! Velvet is definitely lux; I'm a buffalo plaid fan this year, but with my vintage stuff, velvet would sure be classy!
