15 Minute DIY Herb Marker Stone

Happy Monday, Friends! Today I have a quick 15 minute fix for the garden. There are a few ways you can personalize this simple project according to your preferences--plus, it can be finished in 15 minutes or less!

If you have a good source, you may prefer to use stones you have gathered. I am using a store bought stone that I found on clearance some time ago. I love the smooth surface and engraved leaf design. Unlike other faux stones I've seen, it isn't resin and it is the same weight as a real stone.

I already had a set of self-adhesive herb stencils, but you may prefer to letter your stone freehand. I like to use fine-point Sharpie markers because they weather well outdoors.

Depending on how porous your stone is, be careful not to press too hard to avoid blurring. I usually fill in the letters with the stencil and then go back and touch up the letters by hand. You may decide to create a whole set, and this would also be a fun project to do with little ones. You could let them paint the rocks first and help them with the lettering.

  2. Adorable. Love the stone! I have had some "storebot" "stones" dissolve into small pieces when exposed to Maine weather---so disappointing.
