Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! This week I combined my fabulous thrifted finds to create a fun fall wreath. Check out the goodies I found and how I upcycled them to craft this seasonal wreath alternative for less than $2...
I'm a huge fan of alternative wreaths, so when I scored a pretty fall floral candle ring and some burlap for .25 each at the thrift store, followed by this gorgeous vintage frame for $1 at a garage sale, I was instantly inspired. Want to make your own?
Start by cutting the burlap to fit your frame. Next, use double-sided tape to secure it to the inside of the frame.
Here, you can see the framed burlap before I trimmed the excess. Select a stencil to create a greeting for your wreath. {I've included a list of supply links at the bottom of the post for those of you who prefer to shop online.}
I received this stencil as a member of the DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program. See full disclosure here. |
I find that Sharpies work better on burlap than paint. Press gently with a fine point to trace the letters and start to fill them in.
Once the outlines of the letters are traced, the stencil can be removed, which makes it easier to fill in the letters closer to the edge of the frame.

Last, attach floral accents with a glue gun. {I used wire snippers to cut my thrifted candle ring in half.}
Until next time, happy hunting!
It's perfect Cecilia! Great upcycle. I like your non traditional wreaths too!
ReplyDeleteLove that old frame ... perfect for a pretty fall wreath.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could find your .25 bargains around here! Guess I haven't been to enough yard sales this summer, and our main thrift stores are GW which are high here. Imagine what your wreathe would cost on Amazon! Awesome!
