Last month after repainting my bedroom, I was inspired to create a floral inspired office nook featuring my vintage vanity.
One thing led to another, and my bedroom received a complete refresh. Since I shared the first part of the update, this handmade cabinet found a place catty-corner from my bed.
I bought it years ago at a craft show. It's handmade from vintage door pieces and I stenciled the hydrangea topiary--all before I began blogging. It's one of my favorites but somehow it's been overlooked and I haven't shared it here before.
Here's a peek at another recent project--the upcycled ladder I painted blush pink to display cherished vintage linens.
I often work from my bedroom and decided to set up a little tea cart. {See how to repurpose a vintage frame as a small chalkboard, here.}
I repurposed my headboard from whitewashed pickets over twenty years ago and I still love it. I'm also a teeny bit obsessed with vintage pillowcases. I'm constantly hunting thrift stores and estate sales for them. {Find vintage pillowcases here!}
With my freshly painted white walls, I opted for light and airy bedding and curtains, which I shopped from my home. I sewed the rose pillow from a vintage tea towel given to me by my blogger friend Audrey, from Timeless Treasures.
You may remember the sign above my bed from my holiday bedroom. I simply flipped it and changed the message from the Silent Night lyric All is calm, to one of my favorite verses from Psalm 23, He restores my soul. {See my tip for beautiful script lettering--without painting, here!}
The lovely lamb's ear garland draped over the window was 50% from Hobby Lobby and this pretty pink tipped eucalyptus wreath was 75% off at World Market. With the exception of the wall paint, they were the only two purchases I made, so the grand total for my bedroom refresh was $40--including the paint!
I picked up these miniature teacups several years ago when a favorite tea room that my mother and I frequented, closed shop. They had several varieties and I selected a few for me and my mom as keepsakes of the times we'd enjoyed there. Because they're so tiny, I've never settled on quite the right way to display them, until I was inspired by the pretty pink eucalyptus wreath, which complements them perfectly! After adding the pair of teacups, I kept the rest of the wreath simple, using sheer ribbon to attach a single vintage spoon and tea bag rest.
This vintage ceiling tin has been moved from room to room in my home. It has sentimental value as the first item I selected for my new house--almost 19 years ago. For now its home is above the wicker armoire across from my bed. Remember the lovely garland I scored thrifting, last month? I'm always drawn to birdcages, also a thrifted find.
You know I love a touch of whimsy ;)
Hope you enjoyed my floral inspired bedroom! I leave you with more vintage roses and wishes for your happily ever after! {Stay tuned--I'll be sharing a tutorial for the ruffled gauze summer throw soon!} Everyday Living is next in the line-up, and I know Pam is sure to inspire! Cecilia, your bedroom is so pretty and romantic! I think my favorite thing is the little floral pillow on the bed. It just seems to set the tone for all of it. The little vanity table or desk is just like the one I had growing up! Mine was even a soft green color. Love the lamb's ear garland and must go to Hobby Lobby now.
ReplyDeletePinning and sharing. :)
Cecilia, your bedroom refresh is just darling! I love your sweet cabinet and headboard! the teacups hanging on the wreath are perfect. I did that years ago with some of my china and hung it on our door. I had one cup break and I was so mad at myself. lol! Live and learn. What was I thinking, hanging it on a door? :)

ReplyDeleteReminds me of my redo ventures, tell myself im just painting, or getting new pillows, next thing i know its a complete redo, much like yours-by reusing pieces from thrift stores and from other rooms. Your room is very romantic chic, as if it is a bed and breakfast tucked away somewhere.
