Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Today may be Black Friday, but I've heard from most of you that you plan to stay in comfy cozy and maybe do a little online shopping. Instead of fighting the crowds, I thought you might enjoy another virtual shopping trip--this time to Mason, Texas.
First stop, Underwood Antique Mall where I found this luscious jadeite spice jar! It makes a nice addition to my collection. The mall features lots of vendors and vintage treasures.
Next, I found a wonderful shop that I missed on my first visit, Cherokee Rose Antiques & Books. The owner, Carolyn is a sweet lady who reached out to me on Facebook after my first jaunt to Mason and invited me to check out her store the next time I visited.
Housed in a historical landmark...
...this quaint shop is a treasure trove of books, vintage linens, Pyrex and tins.
Love these whimsical salt and peppers!
Before I left, I found this sweet little jar--you know I love me some Scrabble tiles!
Last but not least, we'll stop by Lilacs-N-Calico & Co. to admire Jennifer's stunning displays! I love everything about this vintage luggage vignette--swoon!
There's quite a back story on this pair of gorgeous hand carved, gold leaf beds. Jennifer bought them from a lady in Dallas. She, in turn had purchased them from an eighty five year old lady who originally bought them when she was in her twenties at an antique store in France! That's one of the reasons it's so fun to browse Lilacs-N-Calico & Co. Each display has a story...
...like this fun tribute to school days past! Jennifer told me that she had locals coming in and recognizing friends or family members from the vintage school photos. She acquired them at the estate sale of a teacher named Rubye, who seems to have touched many lives in the community. Jennifer has been giving away recognized photos--one lady found her 4th grade class and took them to a reunion. How special is that? I just love the stories and memories from vintage collections!
This talented lady has a real knack for tablescapes...sigh!
I found these vintage tins to take home with me...
...and also these perfect ballet pointe slippers, that I used in my Nutcracker Inspired Dress Form turned Christmas tree post.
If you haven't stopped by Vintage Charm, there's still time to share your vintage links!
Until next time, happy hunting!
