Chicken Feeder Challenge: Blessings and Blooms on the Mantel!

Greetings Friends! Before Easter, I used this vintage chicken feeder to style my mantel. Since then, I have challenged myself to get creative with the chicken feeder for each seasonal change.  For now it's all about blessings and blooms ...

Chicken feeder mantel

When I found this sweet embroidered sign at Boerne Handmade Market, I knew I wanted to display it on the mantel. I set it on top of the chicken feeder right in the center. It is signed on the back by the artist, Becky Curtiss. The message reminds me I am blessed and makes me smile.  It also provided inspiration for the Happy message I added to the banner above the mantel.  I kept the succulents in the chicken feeder, but added roses to replace the eggs from Easter.  I also added bottles of fresh lavender from my garden on each side.

Favorite Son brought me this lovely orchid for Mother's Day--a bloom and a blessing ;)  I wanted it to have a special place as well.  I have had the whimsical Bloom bud vase for ages.

On the opposite side, I added fuchsia kalanchoe.  It was a grocery store markdown for $1!

Spring flowers on the mantel

Of course I kept the birdie--Home Tweet Home!

  3. Cecilia your mantle is lovely so full of lovely reminders of a beautiful life. Your sweet picture has a history behind it. The first few words are the beginning to a beautiful promise that young women of my faith try to keep. This is how it goes- We are daughters of God, who loves us, and we love Him. WE WILL “STAND as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places” (Book of Mormon-Mosiah 18:9) as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are:
Faith • Divine Nature • Individual Worth • Knowledge • Choice and Accountability • Good Works • Integrity • and Virtue
WE BELIEVE as we come to accept and act upon these values, WE WILL BE PREPARED to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.
I thought you would enjoy this lovely standard. Have a very lovely day my dear friend. Hugs,Jo
