Friday's Find: Recreated Hymnal Angel!

Thank God it's thrifty Friday, Friends! Recently I found a hymnal angel while I was thrifting. The price was right but I hesitated at first because she was a little banged up. Some of her pages were bent in the wrong direction, her make up was dated and her hair was a mess! I've had days like that--how about you? Girlfriend just needed a makeover...

Someone had invested some time in this little angel and I wanted to accentuate the positive, like her gold sprayed pages and pretty crocheted collar but her styrofoam head and matted hair had to go...

First, the foam head was replaced with a smooth wooden sphere. Though I've seen book angels with assorted doll hair styles, I opted for more of a rustic silhouette-- sans hair and with a burlap flower halo.  Finally, for a little whimsy I added some music sheet stars to her dress and some faux pearls at her lace collar.  Isn't she sweet?

My rustic angel found her home atop a Vintage luggage display, adding a little Christmas spirit at the end of my hallway!

  1. She is so cute ... good job of restoring her. I thought the original face was cute, but I like the natural wooden sphere better.
